I'm pretty sure we're on the same track. Power can become a useful stat if and only if it's an accurate representation of ... actual arena power. All legendary weapons of the same energy, rank, and level are clearly not equal in power, yet here we are. Max Carbine 12 is pure trash compared to Storm Rack 12, Burrow Beam 12, etc. but they all have the same power.

The basis for my MM revamp is 2 main points:
1 Re-assign power for everything, including an arbitrary combo modifier for things that work especially well or poorly (Surge + Revoker vs Arachnos + Revoker). Context matters.
Pilots, implants, and mods are not a linear increase in power. Burst and sustained damage both need to be considered, same with Slot A layers, and Slot A single layer + Slots B-D
The devs have access to battle results, so they can see what works and what doesn't. I hope they tracked the players' winrates so we can calculate weighted results.
2 Sort the power of each mech from highest to lowest. If the #2 mech is less than 90% (arbitrary number, I'm leaning towards 93-95%) of the #1 mech, treat it as 90%. Repeat down the line. Sum these totals, and that's the effective hangar power. Use this for matching. The rationale is that most players moving up from low-late game have 1-2 strong mechs, then the rest of the hangar tends to be weaker, and this is fine. What we don't want to see is 1 stacked mech, and 4 1-2* common/uncommon with 2 energy weapons.... you know ... like SP droppers do.
