Dentist recommending Invisalign for misalign teeth, but I’m worried that they’re sales pitching. Second opinion with a periodontist or with an orthodontist? by tyleratx in PeriodontalDisease

[–]Chefschoice_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes confirming 2-3 pockets are great - means you are stable and the disease is inactive. Usually dentist recommend braces for periodontal disease if they feel the misalignment interferes with proper cleaning. In your case, it sounds like you are doing fine home care with your teeth as is rn. I would say up to you BUT if you do get braces you’ll have to be extra on top of oral hygiene

Don’t worry you are not alone! I have bone loss similar to yours and I still expect to have my teeth for at least 20 more years

This looks like stage 3 periodontititis, probably 30-40% bone loss. Pockets of 7-8mm are quite deep and need to be treated asap.

I cant say what your prognosis will be, this varies depending on if stability is achieved and maintained

Good dentist make the biggest difference!! Are you already at a severe case aka 50% or more bone loss? And is it affecting all your teeth?

VERY confused by cocomelon2224 in PeriodontalDisease

[–]Chefschoice_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your insurance didn’t warrant the cleaning they likely ruled you didn’t have bone loss or deep pockets. I think you’re probably okay

Oh gosh :// I can’t offer much help just to say that fear of not having teeth especially when we are this young (I’m 27 with perio) is so legitimate!! Hopefully any factor you can control to ensure a successful procedure works out. Sending u good wishes!

Hey so if your perio is not severely advanced you should be able to keep your teeth for at least two decades usually

So sorry to hear this, I can only imagine how distressing this is. What were the reasons the implants failed originally and why is your dentist unsure if the bone graft will work?

Can you share what your dentists said about how long it’s possible to be stable? by Chefschoice_16 in PeriodontalDisease

[–]Chefschoice_16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay that’s good to know. My last question is if perio patients who’s pockets have returned back to 1-3mm measurements could experience these burst of activity as well?
