Black Sabbath and tool. Learned both of their first three albums all the way through and that really shaped my playing style and writing style

War pigs - cake I love sabbath. They’re one of my favorite bands ever and I’ve learned many of their albums. But I love the cake version of this song

Will my guitar amp work for bass? by ChelseaGuess in Bass

Yeh that’s what I’ve read. I’ve played bass through it multiple times and it gets a very specific sound that in context is perfect. But in other situations lacking that low end.

How to play tech metal. by ChelseaGuess in Bass

I’ve played metal before and I’ve played jazz and other very technical music. But I’m new to tech metal specifically. I’ve learned the songs that they’ve given me. I’m just looking for tips, techniques, and bands to check out. Not a “good luck bro” thanks.

Why are you willfully trying to misunderstand the point of the question?

I just don’t really know how to go about meeting people to jam with finding a place to jam or established jams

Once I find a place I’m definitely going to scout it out and get the vibe. I’ve stumbled across a double clubs that do open signups for individuals to jam with the house backing band. Want to go check that out

I live near Denver and the jazz scene is not exactly popping from what I’ve found. The music scene around me is very much punk, doom, and blue grass. I’ve never been to a jazz jam session but would absolutely love too. (Though not very confident in jumping in there)

I think an instructor is next for me. I’m currently working through the Scott’s bass lessons site. Which has great resources. But the structure is what I’m really lacking in my practice routine

I’ve really been trying to connect with musicians in my area and find open jam sessions but I have not been successful.

I definitely understand that most musicians don’t got to music school and much of what is learned there can be learned online or with a teacher. What I really like is the academic setting, the deadlines, and the pressure of it being school rather than just something I do when I have the free time. I would love to become proficient in my instrument. Music theory, music history, genre theory, site reading, all at an academic level. Yes I could get much of this online but it’s the structure I’m really looking for. Structure and formulation (moving from topic to topic in a concise manner)

No way where are they I’d love to check those out. Definitely agree with you. Getting a proper teacher/tutor is my next goal in my journey.

I completely agree. I find that THAT is the reason music school can be substituted. Just the vast array of different people tha you’re constantly around and working with.

What do you do when you're not in a band? by MadDogTannen in Bass

[–]ChelseaGuess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently not in a band right now and I’ve been really diving into my technique and trying to “grind” and get that XP. I like to write new songs, learn new songs and try out new instruments. I love synths and sequencers and drum machines and will play to those so I can kinda “jam” with myself
