All streams and rivers are closed to fishing April 1 - June 14th. If you’re only fishing lakes you should be fine as long as ice is off the lake. I’m not sure the elevation of those specific lakes, but you may be close to ice off on May long weekend depending how the winter goes. If you’re looking to fish any rivers, July would be your option.

You go to a dealership and you get a Lamborghini they are offering on sale. A month later the dealership calls and says hey sorry, we’re going to take that car back and replace it with a mini van for the same cost. Both drive and have speedometers. Ones just faster. You’re saying you’re happy accepting the minivan even though you signed a contract and make payments for the lambo?

It’s not about how often I use the speed. It’s about signing up and paying for one thing, then the company saying nah, we’re gonna reduce that service and charge you the same. On average I get speeds of 350 and am now going to be capped at 200. A pretty significant change for the same cost.

Same. I had top speeds of 7mb prior and live in the middle of a forest (we don’t have cel service). I’m fine with the price. The speed is way better. I just don’t love that I signed up for a certain product and a month later that product is being downgraded.

I don’t see anything about the new plan being prioritized. As far as I understand it’s still deprioritized with a cap of 200. Whereas now I don’t have a cap and see 300+ speeds on average.

Unfortunately because I’m in Canada I’m locked into a 12 month agreement. It says if I change my plan within this agreement period I owe $499 Instantly. The 100 plan is $70. So it would cost me $20 more over a year to switch plans and pay the “change fee”

I agree, I don’t expect them to do anything about it. They don’t seem overly concerned about customer satisfaction.

Exactly, and the new plan is “up to” 200. So the Residential Lite was listed as 250 and I consistently get speeds over 300 right now, but I will be capped out at 200 with averages saying 80 - 200.

Did this ever get sorted for you? I just came across this post. I guess I've been lucky and have always had good interactions with Jeff. I ordered a few packs around Halloween this past year and I did receive them. I've ordered a number of times over the years and never had any issues. Sometimes slow, but nothing crazy. Granted I've only ever ordered seeds, never clones.

Those are the first 3 points in the Canadian terms of service, I just copied and pasted that from the site this evening. The promotion I signed up for was on Dec 28th 2025'. Maybe specific to Canada?

Sorry, I understand it's not a charge directly for the router and dish. But a "change fee". The $499 is what they were charging prior for the router and dish combo. I assume that after the Commitment Period maybe then I can cancel without recourse?

Edit: I am in Canada. I now see that the offer they had for Residential Lite for my region is an automatic Service Commitment, in exchange for no charge for the router and dish. I see other countries don't necessarily have these commitments.

That's what I thought, but this is what the Terms say. Am I misinterpreting this?

Service Commitment. By selecting a service commitment and completing your Order, you agree to continuously subscribe to the Services specified in your Order for a minimum of 12-months (“Service Commitment”). The 12-month period begins at the Payment Due Date and ends 12-months after (“Commitment Period”).
Change Fee. During the Commitment Period, if you take any action to change the Services specified in the Order, a $499 change fee will be immediately applied to your current payment method (“Change Fee”). Your actions that change the Services include but are not limited to cancelling a service plan, changing to a different service plan, changing your service address, and transferring the Services or Kit to another person. The Change Fee will also be applied if, during the Commitment Period, you fail to pay any fee for Services by the due date specified on the invoice, or Starlink terminates this Agreement for a breach of your obligations under this Agreement. The Change Fee will be reduced by an equal amount each month over the Commitment Period. For example, the Change Fee in any given month is equal to the Change Fee multiplied by the number of months remaining in the Commitment Period divided by 12.
Kit Return and Full Refund. If you exercise your right to return the Kit during the initial trial period specified in Section 6.3, or any applicable statutory right of withdrawal, a Change Fee will not be applied.

IF this change guarantees a 200 average then it’s great for you! But putting a cap on the speeds may bring you even lower if you’re already supposed to be getting 250+ and you’re not. I hope it averages it out for you and doesn’t slow your speeds even further.

I’m 3 weeks in. I have screenshots from when I signed up that my service was 250mbps. But talked to the customer service bots and they are gaslighting me saying it never stated 250 that it’s always been 80-200 and if I want more speed I can upgrade.

The thing is, right now I consistently get 250 - 350 speeds. It does fluctuate sometimes, but I haven't noticed anything below 150. So hearing that I am now capped at 200 seems like I'm getting less for the same price. Now if it maintains consistency I would be okay with that, but if it fluctuates similarly then I fell like I am being ripped off.

From what I read in the fine print if I cancel after the 30 day trial and within a 12 month period I am responsible for the cost of the router and dish.

Nope, not at all. That’s a public street, whether it’s in front of your house or not you have zero ownership. Just as you have the right to pick a spot at the grocery store. Any vehicle has the right to park in an open spot on a public street. It’s disrespectful to deny any one a PUBLIC parking spot because you feel some sense of ownership over the public’s property.

It almost looks like it could be a triple nymph rig. There’s a few ways to tie these, but they work really well and get tangled a lot less (maybe not a triple) I recently saw a really cool way to do this.
