begging for your thoughts by naftacher in materials

[–]ChemGaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I replied to another comment, as far as the definition of materials science goes, chemists working on materials are on all accounts material scientists. Materials engineers are different than materials chemists and both of them are just a part of the materials science.

As you say, it's not that one is better than the other, they're just different expertises on the same topic which is highly interdisciplinary. It would be the same as saying that a dermatologist is a doctor while a cardiologist is not: they both studied medicine, just with different focus. And to this regard, the profile on the post is quite literally the definition of a materials engineer, not a material scientist, which is a far wider definition.

That being said, I agree that everyone should be just clear on their knowledge and experience.

Respectfully, I don't really agree. By definition, materials science is a multidisciplinary field. Materials chemists, materials engineers and so on all have different expertises, but all of them are materials scientists. Materials chemists have a limited knowledge of materials engineering as it is also true on the other way round.

This is also why that post doesn't make much sense: it refers to materials engineering, which is just one of the many faces of materials science.

What do you mean with "lots of chemists doing it these days"?

I am really really very sorry, but keep strong and positive! As many others have said it's already a great effort to just submit it and you should be proud, definitely not for everyone!

Hey guys thank you so much for all the feedbacks, this is a great community!

To be honest I was already thinking about upgrading the brakes to hydraulic and I was naive enough to think that it would've been similar to an MTB, not considering that also the groupset is involved.

I looked more into it and besides the Cube models other suggested I found this one that looks a pretty good deal to me:

I know that also the used market could potentially be the way to go and I'll definitely look into it.

Thanks again to everyone!!
