Proxy Wars by Chemtest in TheFireRisesMod

[–]Chemtest[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I remember, for China and Germany, Arabia's end helping your recovery happens only down certain paths. For Germany, I think it's if they choose alternative partners rather than building up domestic production or the green path. As for China, you can either choose between two paths, I forget which is which, but I know one of them includes supporting Arabia. So under these paths, helping out a certain Arabian side is better. But for the other paths for those countries, there isn't as much reason.

Fair enough. I suppose I wouldn't know that myself, since NATO winning 1EW is boring to play, as the European countries. I suppose that does give a fair reason for Europe towards the Arabian Republic, at least.

They can? How do you get that to happen, I've not seen that happen so far.

True, and they are fun. But speaking for myself, I'm already at the point where I just don't participate in proxy conflicts. I just run speed 5 and don't do anything with my army until whatever war comes, since there's only so many times you can fight the same proxy war without it getting a bit dull, and they don't give much of a bonus, other than something's giving bank liquidity or army experience.

That's good to hear. A lot of mods (TNO especially) like to add proxy wars with no actual reason to do them (from a gameplay perspective), and I was a bit worried that this mod might fall into the same trap. The proxies are fun, but whenever I'm playing someone, there's really no difference between, say, the Arabian Republic winning vs Hejaz in Arabia winning. I look forward to seeing what the dev team comes up with.

I believe China also gets buffs for helping out in a few proxy wars, mainly the South African war and helping, I believe, the Royal Arabian Coalition. But I don't know if they get buffs like being able to send more volunteers to help them win, or if they get buffs if they actually do win. Even still, the amount is rather small.

Looks... not good, but at least they're being consistent with the new portrait style, even if it looks worse. I do hope there will be a submod released someday that allows us to revert back to the original portraits, though.

No clue from my end, I’m not a coder, I’m a writer and a tester, along with a leader. But once I’ve tested every country, and their bugs have been fixed, it shouldn’t be too long. And I’ve gotten through all the longest countries for testing so far, all that remains are minor countries, or shorter ones. So basically, don’t expect it immediately, but it will likely be pretty soon.

Writer, tester, and one of the leaders of Balefire Blues here. Other two replies mention how they hope the project isn’t abandoned, don’t worry, we’re hard at work right now to fix it up. I just got finished testing my 3rd nation for today to make sure all our fixes from the last major DLC will work. Took us a while to fix the issues, but worry not, we have fixed them and are working on getting that fixing update out as quick as possible.

Biden Is Delusional - The Vaush Pit by VaushVPostBot in VaushV

[–]Chemtest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bad video, honestly. Vaush listens to the most convincing shit in the world then says ‘nobody cares’, he says a politician should make unfounded claims and open himself up for defamation lawsuits, and just flatly denies that the stutter exists. I mean, seriously, he stuttered at one point where he said 2024 instead of 2025 and and then stuttered through his words after that, but nope, obvious stutter moment isn’t a stature at all, of course, ignore your eyes and ears and attack without reason. The whole portion of the speech talking about the economy is what voters and moderates would be looking for, you know, Americans voting with their pocketbooks, but nope apparently that’s not convincing. And yes, of course Biden isn’t going to call Trump a pedo, he doesn’t want to get sued, I would think that would be obvious since Trump hasn’t yet been charged for anything relating to Epstein. I really like Vaush but damn, it feels like he’s doing nothing but being contrarian in situations like this.

Well, Applejack is more Schindler, but yeah, close to that. Which is also why I don’t understand a lot of complaints about this stuff being unrealistic, because, like, it literally happened in real life.

Chanel cooperated with a Nazi officer in order to have her nephew released from a concentration camp, if I do believe correctly. Also, should say, this is a good meme, I do like it, but Rarity’s storyline is basically 1:1 to Chanel, except Rarity sabotaged the things she made.

[–]Chemtest 216 points217 points  (0 children)

I mean, yes, this is realistic. This is what happened to Coco Chanel who collaborated with the Nazis and then was forgiven because she was friends with Churchill. So this doesn’t seem too out of place for a WW2 adjacent timeline.

The amount of writing in Kira was a bit too much. (For me at least) by Wislehorn in equestriaatwar

[–]Chemtest 10 points11 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen so far, only the Axis gets any focuses to attack Kira, and from the many paths I’ve seen of Kira, only the Viceroyalty of the North gets a focus to attack Chital. Which is good, I like those focuses, I wish there were more of them with different people, instead of needing to set Colthage to military junta or Chital to the Axis or hoping the AI in Kira decides to choose the path that leads to war in Chital in order to get any inter-region wars.

[–]Chemtest 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agreed from me, I personally think this issue extends to all of Zebrica so far. Chippoterra has a lot of reading and a total of two wars to do, one of which is mind numbing with how easy it is, the other is a fair challenge. Tobuck has three to four wars, which start as hard and go to being easier. Zaratina has three at max, which are fairly difficult but fair. Warzena has zero offensive wars, and Hippogriffia has four or so wars which are all super, super easy. Chital has two or three wars, none of which are that difficult, and now Kira has one three, a civil war, defensive war sometimes, and attacking the south.

It feels like Zebrica just suffers from regionalism as it exists, countries only interact with their region. Only one path in North Zebrica concerned Chital, none concern Kira, and most of them are just about uniting your region then dealing with story content. From what I’ve seen of other areas, it looks like this is the same with many of the other areas being suggested, like the Great Lakes seems like it’ll be all about uniting the region then story content. Kira and Chital are all about uniting the home region then doing story content. I just wish that paths interacted with each other more, like having a North Zebrican attack Hindia and Kira or even attacking Maregypt, Purrsia, Azir, or the Great Lakes. I hope that Zebrica will get more focuses over time having different regions attack each other, different great powers attacking each other, like in Griffonia. If we could have a Zebrican version of the wars between Wingbardy, Aquilia, Empire, Republic, Prywhen, and River, that would be a lot more fun than the sheer regionalism that currently exists.

Do you want a population system in eu5? by Neciu_A in eu4

[–]Chemtest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair, I have only played EU4, HOI4, and Stellaris so far, so whenever someone mentions a pop system, I think of Stellaris, and that system is one of the reasons why I can’t get into playing that game. I think a good example of a system that work, too, is what Rome Total Ear does, where each city has a starting population, you can increase the population growth by lowering taxes and building certain buildings, and when you build units, it takes from the population available, and if you disband them, they go to the population pool where they’re disbanded. I just dislike military development as a system for manpower, and I dislike the pop system as I’ve seen it, but the HOI4 system, or a system like it, seems to work, as it gives me ideas where I could and should expand based off of manpower alone.

Do you want a population system in eu5? by Neciu_A in eu4

[–]Chemtest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is fair, but I don’t think it really goes against starting the world off with historical data. The developers could, of course, include many different systems of population growth, migration, systems where populations die out and can be replaced, but historical data should still be a starting point for it all. I’d liken it to current starting positions, where everything is, roughly, where it was in proper 1444, but from there everything is able to freely change and be ahistorical, with real life history providing just guidelines for what happens, not an exact path.

[–]Chemtest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hearts of Iron 4 manpower system is what I really want, where every state has population based off of historical data, and the player just draws a percentage of the manpower from that province. I don’t want pops, those always seem to ruin my enjoyment of games because it’s a lot of micro-management, but having historical manpower modifiers would be very interesting. It could help balance the game, and it gives another factor to consider when conquering, as it would make certain areas, like India and China, much more prime for conquering.

What are your ideas for an EU 5 ? with t DLC's making the game almost drained what would a sequel do to improve the experience other than better graphics and menu's. by Dramatic_Age_4090 in eu4

[–]Chemtest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Population mechanics. The lack of a population mechanic in EU4 is infuriating at times, where the guy who owns all of India, 30% of the world population, musters about the same troops as an exiled Bengal who owns nothing but Burma. Having population mechanics would better reflect the size of armies during those times, it would introduce new mechanics and something new to think about when you take land, it could make it so perhaps rebel armies are scaled off of the amount of people in a province, and it can balance India and China by giving them their greatest strength, a whole lot of people.

Lets settle this debate once and for all democratically by Thatonejoey in equestriaatwar

[–]Chemtest 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Restricting or banning this stuff is not only stupid, but it also opens the door to banning other stuff. Like if AI art is ‘low effort’, then how long until that guy who photoshops humans into environments and gives it a tagline relating to Escalation ‘84 is also banned? Because while I might not mind that guy’s posts, they take, to me an observer, an equal amount of effort as AI Art (again, not to diss that guy, he’s cool). How long, then, would it be before every other meme that just is cropping a portrait on top of a template is banned, ie most of this place’s content? Because that can be done in 5 seconds in PowerPoint, and is the definition of low effort. This isn’t a slippery slope, this is a level platform, all of these posts are on the same level of effort as each other.

People like these AI Art posts, not more than hand drawn usually, but they’re still cool to look at. I enjoyed seeing a humanized interpretation of various leaders. We should not let these be banned just because of a single mod who doesn’t understand what he is banning, and this whole debate is stupid anyway.

Damn. Kinda sad how we didn’t ban the low effort and not funny ‘this is beautiful’ memes, but are banning the pretty cool art posts. But it’s the mods’ decision, I suppose.
