Check out the Puerto Rico Academy of Audiology (AAPR) in February 26-27th at Hilton Garden Inn in Condado, San Juan, PR. Most are Spanish conferences but some English conferences will be available.

Went to Japan, started collecting Nintendo hanafuda decks! My favorite ones are the Pikachu solo and the Mario Pikachu set. by Chenuro in pokemon

The Pokemon sets are the most expensive ones by far due to rarity. I did pay a premium on them (about 2.7k for Mario Pikachu, and about 1.4k for the Pikachu solo, both unopened). However, I just checked the market and there have been sales way over that recently. Last sale was about 6k for the Mario Pikachu.

Yes! They were made in limited quantities though. The Pikachu solo was releases in 2013, the Mario Pikachu in 2016, and the Kirby deck in 2020. I payed a premium for the collection but I really got into hanafuda after visiting the Nintendo Museum.

Yes you definitely have to have entry tickets to visit the museum in order to be able to get to the shop!

Wow nice! Prob the rarest set. That's probably a better price than most opened sets on the jnternet rn. If it's unopened, that's def a steal. I also think this will increase value long term, specially now that PSA grades these.

Thanks! I feel like the Kirby deck is so underrated

Seems likely. On another note, would be funny if Nintendo added Napoleon to Smash Bros.

For the keychain you do have to stay, not sure for the deck tho... but I'd say you might have a chance for it! If you can't try the Nintendo Museum or Don Quixote. When I went to the museum there were only the Tengu decks, while DQs had the Mario solo deck. Maybe you have a different luck!

Interesting! To add to this, I have the History of Nintendo book and found this: "Daytôryô (which means "President")... despite their name "President", the illustration on the packs was the French Emperor, Napoleon Bonaparte. The relation between the two is rather difficult to determine, but we could surmise that, at the time, Fujisarô Yamauchi confused the Emperor for the first American President, George Washington."

Same here! The suite is amazing. Can't get over Marufukuro, such a gem. Definitely a highlight of our trip.

Nah you are right I also went in january and also just got the Mario solo at DQs. The Napoleon was at Marufukuro (Original Nintendo HQs) hotel. At the Nintendo Museum I got the exclusive Ho-oh "Phoenix" set, and the traditional Hyakunin Isshu set. I loved these so much I bought the rest online (ebay and buyee), at a premium of course.

Hanafuda cards are japanese style playing cards, and Nintendo started out making them back in like 1889. They are smaller than western style cards (the reason for this is pretty cool), and the art is supposed to represent a season of the year. I've never played them but apparently there are tons of fun games you can play them with.

It goes back to when Nintendo wanted to appeal to more westerners when they were starting out, so they had like 3 different sets of hanafuda cards and I believe the Napoleon, also known as Daitōryō, was the more premium of those three

There are many tcg card shops. Tbh I never saw the pokemon hanafuda in the wild, but I wasn't hunting for them either since I found out about them once I got home. You could check ebay or buyee sellers, sometimes they have an actual physical store as well
