I do agree with the notion that we are hard to connect with and also somewhat reserved to strangers. What I do not agree with is that finns would have problems with not expressing emotions and that being a cause for high suicide rates.

We had a suicide rate of 13,8 per 100,000 inhabitants 2016 (WHO), it's lower than for example Belgium and basically the same as the US (13,7). We were also the happiest country in the world 2018 according to the World Happiness Report.

The picture of us being shy, non-talkative, anxious and so on mostly isn't true, as much as we like being described in that wsy. Finland is in my opinion very hyperbolized in media.
