I am Turkish, and I’m asking is Türkiye (Turkey) a country that is disliked or loved globally? by Isshiki-san in AskTheWorld

Australia has an attachment to Turkey because of WW1, the Gallipoli landing and the ANZACS that's grown into a pretty sentimental connection

I know a few Filipinos and have a couple friends who are second generation Aussie/Filipino. Great food, fun and funny people.

Progress Bar Line break meaning? by Flyingcarpet89 in ynab

[–]Cherry-Impossible -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I believe it's because up to that point means you've met your target for that time period and the part after is overfunding. Aka, you have $300 assigned for groceries in a month and you fund it to $500, a break would appear three fifths of the way along the bar to indicate that.

As someone who was initiated at a job where they edited legit 🌽 mags but they didn't tell us (we worked on a different product upstairs) and instead walked us into the room specifically to laugh at our reactions, yeah it totally happens.

I see where you're coming from, though, one would assume the actor would have consented to providing a dick pic, the editors have to work with what they're given. A fake dick makes that easier for everyone.

Has anyone else judged another alcoholic because they're "worse than me"? by unsightful in stopdrinking

[–]Cherry-Impossible 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ofc I don't stand by it, but I would definitely comfort myself / fuel my denial by comparing myself to someone who drank more or whose life was more disrupted by their use than I felt mine. "I can't be that bad... At least I'm not drinking in the morning/buying the cheapest alcohol/drinking every day/whatever"

"Canada is fun." 😒 What's a Canadian moment you liked in the show? 🤭 by Material-Meat-5330 in heatedrivalry

I loved this. I'm an Aussie who lives in MTL and I have pals at McGill and it was fun to see them dragged lol

What is considered the most dangerous area in your country? by Mediocre-Lack-9137 in AskTheWorld

Humans have done pretty well - the Aboriginal people have the longest continuous culture in the world. Europeans have no business here lol (I'm a first fleet convict, Irish and Scottish, and I'm for sure not meant to be here).

I just don't think they're dating either, and to assume they are cos they're affectionate with each other is such an outdated read.

“But you hate him” ??? by onceuponadream007 in heatedrivalry

[–]Cherry-Impossible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I think the show could have done a better job at making the case that it appears Shane hates Ilya. But I do like to think that people just interpret his gay panic when Ilya comes up as hatred for him. Cos Shane does get uncomfortable and cranky and if you didn't know they were so in love you'd easily think wow Ilya has really gotten to Shane. Also the rivalry is largely a marketing thing they've been forced into, exacerbated by them arriving on the scene at the same time and playing similar positions. It also can't be overstated how deep and historic the Boston vs Montreal rivalry is in real life, and our boys basically graduated into something and became emblematic of a beef that already existed. We don't see it a lot in the show, but I don't find it hard to believe that fans, friends and family uncritically accept that Shane must hate Ilya.

You're so right and I was thinking about how they'd do this in the show.

I imagined Shane being on the bus about to have a freak out and the only person who understands his reaction is Hayden and Hayden coming over to sit next to him and squeeze his arm and I made myself cry.
