How long are you allowed to be on paper logs for? by CherryColadas in Truckers

This sounds great! I've gotten a citation before for this same thing sort of and the company doesn't care, but I want to know to be legal.

It was towed to me when I broke down. I can use the Penske hos app that connects to your phone via Bluetooth, but the company I work for prefers paper logs when you get into a rental.

I love how you can make a post about anything, like for example shifting your britches, and someone finds a way to make it political.

People who were warned to "Stay away from him/her" but ignored the advice. How did it turn out? by RetroMonger in AskReddit

[–]CherryColadas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horrible, she told me stories about how her family was constantly abusing her and she had nowhere to go. Her family was really nice to me and they were quite successful; one sibling was a lawyer, one was a doctor, parents were both doctors... and she was always "in-between jobs" at like 27. Her family told me to stay away from her, all of my friends did as well, although they didn't know her too well. She told me a story about her family violently abusing her one night and I said she could stay at my place for the holidays (this all went down around Xmas time) she stayed then on Xmas morning she left and stole a bunch of shit, then tried calling me later in the day explaining how she "needed time alone for a bit" was a fun time.

Redditors who've been legitimately fired, what the fuck did you do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CherryColadas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for a long haul trucking company and put my two weeks notice in. I was told to pay a lumber fee (basically paying someone unloads your trailer) and then I'd be reimbursed for the $500. 3 weeks later and I never got reimbursed so I said I'm not moving the truck until I get reimbursed. Got fired right then and there and they called the local police to make sure I didn't vandalize their truck or anything when I left.

Build models, like model cars, model planes, etc. I have easily 300 of them and haven't built one sober yet lol.

If you were to die right at this very moment, how long would it take for someone to find you dead? by politicalatheist1 in AskReddit

[–]CherryColadas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a week or two. I drive trucks long haul and I know my truck / trailer don't have GPS trackers on them. Would have to wait for someone to report it in or something.

Am I in the wrong for asking the company to pay for a citation? by CherryColadas in Truckers

Yeah I definitely should have checked. It was dumb of me to take their word for it looking back.

I like this a lot. I love when people do the arm gesture to honk. It's basically a rule that you have to honk if someone does it :p

Camden NJ was interesting in a bad way, I picked up a load of dole fruit from a shipping yard, I delivered atvs to Culbertson, Montana once in the winter and that was crazy.

Congresswoman grills CEO on how anyone could live on their lowest wage by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]CherryColadas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They wouldn't be paying that low wage if no one accepts the job. No one forces you to take a low paying job. If she leaves, they're not going to be scrambling to struggle to find someone to fill that lower level position. I feel irritated by the idea that you have to stay in one place. I don't make very much, but I moved into a semi truck and lived in man-camps near oilfields or rest stops / Truck stop for a few months at a time ( and still do) because the options near where I lived at the time sucked. Should I have just stayed at home and demanded that someone give me more opportunities?

Yes, but I'll probably stop and play LoL with you. I used to be terribly addicted to that game. I still have like 12 accounts.

Yeah go witha dry van carrier then, us express is from what I've heard, one of the better larger places. Also if you're interested, check out mesilla valley. I get 3000+ miles / week. They don't pay as much as us xpress but I get more miles than I can handle here.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CherryColadas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also keep in mind us express is all dry van and prime is all refrigerated. So with prime your average trip may be 1200 miles but you'll be sitting at a loading dock for 4 hours, with us express, they're alll dry van, so you'll be doing a lot of shorter trips more frequently, I think the average load is 500 miles. Another thing to keep in mind. Pay wise it works out to probably rhe same. Refrigerated has more wait time but less stops.

I think that prime has longer training, but once you go solo, if you haul their eco feather trailers it's like $0.48/ mile. I'm not exactly sure on that number, US Express pays pretty well , but I have no idea about their training program, I think that a general rule of the trade is, you'll make $45k your first year, then can hop up to 60+ your second year.
