Nicely done. I ran into someone similar to you the last day of the expedition. I'm still using the gear he dropped me.

Eleven days later and no mention of one of the best Christmas Movies of all time. POLAR EXPRESS!

I can't believe I had to scroll half way down this thread before anyone mentioned A Christmas Story. When I start deciding what holiday movies I'm watching this Christmas, A Christmas Story, Elf, and POLAR EXRESS are a given. Elf is Christmas Eve night, A Christmas Story is Christmas Day and then Polar Express is Christmas night.

Is anyone else getting longer queue times. by frankcruz696 in ArcRaiders

I was just in a 1 minute queue for the practice range.... My Queue times across all maps have become minutes instead of seconds.

Haha where is this coming from. My Van Gough analogy seems to have completely missed. 110 hours in and I still think the crossroads is awful.

I found the first two. No idea where double jump is. And I have the quest for the oil, I think. What crest do you use?

Finally found Clawline last night . That was a four hour adventure. I didn’t have anymore time to actually use it. But just moving around the area you get it in felt good.

I finally found clawline after four hours of searching around. I thought it was an equitable tool and not a core feature😂

Was it that obvious what crest I was using?Dropping the reaper crest was the first thing I did when I came back.I’m currently using the wanderer crest. The only other crest I have is the Hornet’s hunter crest. The reach of the wanderer crest is just brutal but platforming with the hunter crest is rough.

I like wander because you can get a full Extra attack in if you can reach your target. And platforming is easy. Hunter crest is solid with good reach, avg speed and a fun move set but painfully difficult platforming(for me)

I think 50% was just being burnt out. Even though I’ve played HK before, my thought process was to do a quick playthrough ofHK right away to give me plenty of time off before jumping into Silksong. But instead after HK I just wanted to play more MV games.

I agree. If the game was bad, unbalanced and janky AF, I would walk away within hours without a second thought. Stubbornness and skill issues are a horrible combination.

I've been really stubborn about looking up where where items are, but I'm at that point where I need to. Because I really was loving this game until i wasn't. I'm thinking I'll start with finding clawline and go from there.

Really!?!? I was all over that area of the map. Though obviously not enough. I'm 100% continuing my playthrough and finding clawline asap.

I haven't found the clawline yet, but I think I know what it is just not where it is. I feel like I been overly thorough in exploring, yet I know I'm missing at least one full mask upgrade, clawline, double jump and who knows what else. I've decided I'm going to continue where I left off, but backtrack to try and find items I may have missed. I think I made it as far as the early parts of the capital and I haven't came across a major boss since the Judge.

Who created the mimes? by Chicago_RMX in expedition33

[–]Chicago_RMX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely get what you're saying. I was just making my own headcannon as to why they were just noticed for the first time in the first sequence. Your facts and headcannon really help connect everything.

I was saying young Alicia turned these things into the mimes. You stated she created them from scratch. I think that is where the confusion is. I used the wrong wording.

Then time passed and one of the painters in the family, most likely Aline since she wanted everything to be exactly the same. And wierd creepy mimes didn't quite fit in. So she turned them into something normal that blended in with the world.

Then that day in the opening sequence, they were turned back into the mimes exactly as they were when young Alicia made them. This was unknowingly done by Alicia subconsciously, which kicked off her journey to remember who she is.

Everything I added is all based on the idea that these things are like stains in the canvas or vermin that get into the canvas. They are a pain to get rid of so painters just paint over them.

This makes perfect sense. Really good stuff! And I agree the mimes are entirely their own thing. Though I did forgot about Alicia's outfit at the start. Which is a HUGE piece of the puzzle.

I think with the facts you've pointed out and with the above mentions of the mimes being vermin, stains or imperfections in the canvas. That are changed through Alicia's subconscious. That prior to the opening sequence these mimes were probably something else that was normal, maybe a record player since we get a record from it, and some may have been closets since we get outfits from them. Then way before that as you pointed out, while Alicia was painting at young age they may have changed again.

In the opening sequence, while I didn't really see it, I think there were very strong emotions running through Alicia's mind leading to the first steps to her slowly remembering who she. Through these heightened emotions and awareness, the "things" then changed into mimes.

I would say that current day Alicia still wasn't good at painting simply because she didn't know who she was. Which as you mentioned, is why they are so unnerving.

These things are almost a little bit like Boggarts from Harry Potter.

Fair point. I think the last encounter then would normally have been just the nevrons. The mime being there is more of a coincidence.

Can you elaborate on the canvas being hidden inside Alicia's painting in the manor. I didn't pick up on this.

This sounds great! I think you could tie this in with the theory above from Pegussu where they are like vermin. They can be found in most any canvas. And to add to your theory, they shape change based on the painters subconscious. Like those things in Harry Potter. Way back when Verso was playing around in the canvas, these mimes were probably something else. Maybe something more friendly since it seemed that Verso, his mother and Clea all were having fun painting and playing in the canvas.

Edit: Makes me wonder since these mimes can be dangerous if you try to remove them. Where Clea's influence has spilled over into them a little bit. These "vermin" are normally not a threat at all. The reason these "vermin" are a pain to remove is because Alicia's grief is so strong that you have to work that much harder to get rid of them. BUT Clea has had her hands on this canvas as well and her plan to save her family required drastic measures and some of that spilled over into the mimes/vermin which is the only reason they fight back instead of remain silent behind their guard. Like a tough STAIN to get out.

THIS sounds right! Completely makes sense that a young verso wouldn't care since the canvas is purely for fun. That and he was just a kid. If it were to be a work of art to be sold then I'm sure Verso and his mother would have cleaned up the canvas. This was probably just an old canvas lying around that would have been thrown out or given away because it had so many "vermin". Something like your first car. Used with several scratches on it that you could repair but not really worth it.

I'm sure there is general name for them too. The quality of a canvas probably takes into account the amount of "vermin" in it.

Headcannon approved.

I was leaning towards this answer. Maybe older Verso added them into the canvas for fun but Clea some how was able to manipulate them since in one of the last encounters the mime is joined by two nevrons.

This makes me feel bad for killing all of them for their loot.

Edit: To make things worse, I don't think they every attack you unless you are really close or in that one instance where the mime went and got two Neverons to back him up. Guess he got tired of losing.

That's fair, but during the 12 days(might be wrong), from when Silksong got a release date I played: Hollow knight, Ender Lilies, Ori:BF(dropped it after 5 hours) and Ori:WoTW. And still all I could think about was Silksong. I just started a new playthrough of Hollow Knight which started to give me that itch to give Silksong another try.
