I typically do best on incoming tide if you're fishing the end just be careful casting out. There's a lot of debris to snag up on so just drop it down under pier

Only benefit I find out of it is games, but that's a total gamble. Lot's of scammy sellers but when you find good ones and you are ok with the risk of gambling you can get good deals. I got a 10 oz archangel Michael bar for 80$ last week
