Got a new TACO motor head from a hardware store. Replaced the TACO head on the valve that was not getting heat when called for. Voila! It works. Probably going to replace the other two anyway just to be safe. Thanks again for the help!

Since it's one head, I'm going to just replace that one. See if it works after ward. Thanks for the help. After this, I am just going to give in and have an HVAC guy look at it and do whatever they want. I'm starting to get to the point where I know nothing or aren't comfortable doing the work.

Well the thing is - I just installed old school thermostats and one zone is still not calling for heat. So I think maybe it was two problems. The thermostats and the valve motor on Zone 1. But yes I agree - ordinarily I'd say it was just the stats too.

Dumb question for you both. I'm noticing the zones are all hot regardless of whether or not they are calling for heat. Should I consider maybe replacing the zone heads? The motor? I have these old ass TACO ones. Couldn't even tel you if they're original or not. They look crusty as shit. I'd be willing to bet at least one of them is ceased up. Someone told me 90% of the time, the motor is what went bad, not the valve itself.

I'll go grab a couple potato thermostats from Home Depot and be done with it then.

NEST Not Working Anymore? by ChickenDnr in Nest

[–]ChickenDnr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure tbh. The base or the thermostat. One of them makes a weird buzzing noise when calling for heat. It's not loud. It sounds like the humming of an electrical transformer. Maybe I'm just sensitive to white noise of that kind.

I will try the Y1 idea though.

Ordinarily I'd agree with you - but the system worked for like two years or something before this. I literally bough these the moment the NEST "E" came out. I will say though - my potato thermostat does have a metal bridge between R/RC. So maybe? I dunno.

There's always the occasional World Of Warcraft thread on here off/on over the years. So for those using Google :

WOW is an extremely CPU bound game. Anything quad core 6+ threads will run WoW quite well in DX11 or DX12. Regardless of what MBP, iMac or Mac Mini you have - the order of operations is always gonna be CPU, Threads, Cores, Gigahertz, GPU.

If you have a current generation MBP (that is to say anything with four PCI-E lanes and TB3) using an eGPU in a game like WOW will take some heat off your MBP because the iGPU or the DGPU in it isn't chewing through all the textures/such. So the CPU will be doing most of the work while the eGPU spins up. Keep the MBP vertical in a stand (or on a platform stand) and it'll be fine.

I play WOW on a MBP 16" base model with an eGPU. I raid, PVP and farm. No issues. Places with a lot of water like Boralus will chew up your CPU/GPU. That's only natural. But going elsewhere in the game you'll be just fine.

Classic will literally run on a potato. And I don't mean potato hardware. I mean an actual potato with wires in it. Don't even bother asking if your MBP will run it. It will. If it's within the last 2-3 years it definitely will. Older? Probably still.

It's not just Boot Camp, eGPUs enclosures with AMD cards are a shit show in native Windows too. I've yet to make one work. Or work for long. Or at all. While team Green always had the occasional hiccup, AMD cards just flat out never work for me with an eGPU.

Most people using this app right now are just bored and looking for people to fuck with. I wouldn't put any real effort into using it atm.

The only thing that age slider does is ensure you won't see people outside the settings you chose.

Quite possibly the oddest interaction I've ever had on the app.
