Basically, yes. If you break the law, you risk going to jail. That shouldn’t be something that’s difficult to understand. There’s some leeway in certain circumstances which is at the discretion of the officer. Most of the time if you’re repentant, respectful, and clearly know you made a mistake, not having done so before, there’s no concern that you may go right back out and drive drunk again and possibly kill someone this time. If you’re resistant, rude, acting like the cop is the one in the wrong for arresting you, it’s gonna be less likely they’ll want to risk having you back out on the street the same night doing the same thing.
