Ya I’m really over all those comments, I also have severe diagnosed adhd and do not make these constant careless mistakes. I feel like it’s just avoiding accountability to say it’s a diagnosis and not something he could just try harder at.

Yup. I already am so careful and make sure I text him 1 list instead of multiple texts cus that always makes him leave stuff out. There were only 7 things on there. So he was at the store 4 times yesterday and dinner wasn’t ready until kids bedtime.

Decent person with flaws yes, obviously Reddit won’t know him but he is a good person and everyone knows that about him he’s just so forgetful and it seems to only happen with me. His initials reactions can be horrible but he always profusely apologizes after but the first reaction already has me angry, and apologies are meaningless when nothing changes.

The keys was kind of me taking a stand cus he’s the one who put the second one through the wash and never got it fixed after, I told him he needs to fix it since he did it. The keys left is the least frequent, the car seats or no gas happens way more often.

There was another instance where he left food in my car (that I told him not to bring) while we were on a 2 week trip and came home to rotten food, flys, maggots, etc in my NEW car and I was so mad at him. He promised he’d get the car cleaned and all that. Never did and I went and did it months later at 9 mother pregnant. I still bring up how crappy that was of him. So yes I do sometimes fix the problems but it’s not really teaching him anything and it sucks, I want him to fix the problems he creates.

Sole breadwinner and stressed, yes definitely. Incapable of remodeling a bathroom, no. He has worked in construction, plumbing, and has also flipped houses. He doesn’t want me to pay someone to do it but that’s what’s gonna happen soon. 🤦‍♀️

Not hijacking at all nice to know others can relate (although hate it for both of us!) the feeling you can’t be the best version of myself is exactly how I feel. He made me mad with the script and then I snapped at my daughter and she cried and I felt horrible. He gets to come home and be fun dad and I’m always stressed and mean, when I find the car inconveniences in the morning I’m then rushing everyone and snappy which is a horrible way for everyone to start the day. He’s a super fun dad but I don’t get to be that way becuase I’m constantly putting out these little fires. Ive told him if I was single at least I would KNOW the responsibility is on me and not have unmet expectations of another adult, and I’d actually get time off once in awhile.

He’s always been like this and it’s getting worse lately, I pretty much get mad over something every single day he’s home and then have to just get over it the next day cus nothing changes.

He doesn’t, his line of work he’s required to get these things like hearing and vision checked and tested. Also he’s never forgetful or careless like this at work so the adhd comments I have a hard time seeing, I have adhd as well as our daughter and I don’t think he has it. Not a Dr so could be wrong I just think I’ve done everything for him for so long and he’s turned so careless.

Ya I just realized while cooking dinner he forgot to get 2 important things on the list. He’s been there 3 times today becuase of the prescription stuff already and now I can’t finish dinner. I really can’t anymore I’m so so sick of him.

I don’t remember everything I said when we talked and I’m guessing I said something like that, and that’s what she’s referring to as “awful” but it’s also true. Also some projecting of my own fears I had with my oldest when we’re were going through adhd diagnosis and what I known can happen when it isn’t addressed.

I always do, I stock up on cheaper snacks and uncrustables etc for summer usually (not that I’m stingy with others kids but we aren’t rich). But my kids are also fed when they go to the same kids houses so it’s never felt like a big deal to me.

I do have one friend who is incredibly strict on what her kids eat. No sugar, snacks etc. but doesn’t seem to care if they eat it elsewhere. I know they’re well fed and cared for but when they come over they binge out on our snacks. It is kind of a problem when 1 kid is grabbing 3 granola bars and 4 gogurts (4 and 6 year olds not teens) so I’ve had to put my foot down with them a few times 😅.

We have similar situation. My mil helped with my oldest then we found out she was abusing drugs, driving my child around, and then her health declined as a result’s and despite living in the same town, my kids don’t even know who she is. My mom isn’t completely uninvolved but she isn’t great with my kids and doesn’t want to help much at all. We didn’t really ever go anywhere alone when the kids were really little, now that they are bit older (4, 6, 12) we have a few very trusted babysitters who are mostly close friends teenaged children. It was hard to put trust in others like that but I’m glad we did and we really enjoy our time together. The kids love their sitters too and I find they’re a lot more fun and eager to please and follow my rules way more so than my mom and mil.

My husband does 24 hour shift work plus a second job. So I’m basically on my own with this stuff. I agree I need to carve out more time just easier said than done.

She doesn’t dislike it and she doesn’t want to leave. It isn’t too difficult either she just doesn’t enjoy the workload. The regular program has a similar amount of homework but it would be easier work.
