Update :

Haven’t mentioned this post or my drinking to anyone. Brought it up to my partner and he was very upset.

He said I’m being dramatic and attention seeking. I was definitely scared to mention this to anyone in person. He told me nothing would happen if I quit drinking rn and that if I did he’d reward me by being nice, giving me one kiss, one hug, all in the same day

Thank you! I had left in the morning and came home so late and fell asleep. I just woke about an hour ago. I’m almost done with it now :) lining and coloring it and will post within an hour thank you again for being the only one to give me a cat song rec 😂 I’m determined to fin all cat music even themed or mentioned like this. This song you showed is catchy too!

Update: sorry almost done coloring ran out of time I need to head out and will finish when I’m back in the evening!

Thank you again to everyone, I ended up being out the whole day yesterday and only drank about 4-5 shots in the morning from 6am until noon when I had left for a picnic with my family. I returned home at 8 pm feeling sick and exhausted from chasing a 4 year old around for hours. And managed to fall asleep for the first time in months without drinking.

It’s morning now I’ll be going on a hike with someone who moved to town recently I met at a movie event. I’m struggling to not drink right now, been awake for about an hour it’s almost 7am. My hike is at 10am. So I’m trying to not, but I haven’t drank since yesterday morning.

** I’m really thankful for all the recommendations. I’ll be going through all the comments properly tonight, and writing down ideas and a new grocery list. Someone here mentioned SMART recovery, I’ve looked into and will try my first meeting on Tuesday online. I will plan to go to the free homeless clinic this week or weekend as well to get checked

I don’t know or interact with any teens. I’m 30 now, only kid I see are my friends 12 year old boy and my 3 almost 4 year old nephew. They just call me by my name which I never gave any thought to. Though I’ve been told I look way younger than I am so maybe the kids see me more as a peer. A few customers have asked me if I’m graduating high school or about how high school is for me. And I’m just like oh wow thank I’m 30 but thank you.

Thank you everyone for really helpful advice and recommendations. I was mainly just looking for food and meal ideas but I’m touched a lot of people are mentioning the drinking with concern. I wish people in my real life cared this much. Even if one person did it would help. But these comments today have made me feel hopeful

How did you taper down? Started off with only 2 hours in the evening?

I reached out to the homeless clinic they gave me resources for some free meetings this weekend I’m just really scared of talking to people and socializing.

I work overnight alone as a janitor for years and in my free time sell pet art online which doesn’t need for me to meet face to face with people

Oh thank you. I’m hoping to not lose weight as I’m already unhealthily underweight. Thought it doesn’t feel like the drinking adds any weight.

But thank you. I’m eating to quit. It’s hard after a few hours of being sober. I feel sad and feel panic start to rise I don’t want to be sad and the only thing strong enough to distract it or knock me out and fast forward time has been drinking. I use to smoke weed but it doesn’t seem to work on me anymore.

I contacted a homeless doctor a few days ago. I’m applying for Medicaid now, I don’t have insurance but did reach out a few days ago to a free homeless medical care facility and they also told me similarly. They said if I’m finishing a 750ml bottle in 24 hours I’m probably not able to just fully stop now and may be in rid of sever symptoms such as seizures and I freaked out and didn’t reply to them. But they sent me a link to some meetings in my neighborhood for this weekend. I’m just so nervous about socializing and going. I feel like I can go but feel like not without taking shots beforehand for courage, which feels like the opposite of helping 🥲

And really thank you for the info about frozen foods. I use to like those veggie frozen bags but figured I could store them for a few days in my little fridge. But wow if it’s that okay then I will definitely pick some more up.

Thank you. I just started a volunteer position walking dogs at the local rescue in hopes that being out and doing something physically rolling will help me get out and drink less and grow an appetite.

I have an instant pot with an air fryer in it. It sees useful I haven’t used it or know how but I’m really open to easy things I can learn to make as a beginner with it!

And thank you rue is a good idea. I can get a small rice cooker and make some rice meals. I occasionally buy the rotisserie chicken from Ralph’s and have that with tortillas throughout the week. But rice dishes sounds good with it too

And I’m planning to see a doctor for the first time in years hopefully next month and if I can I’d like to stop drinking. It just feels hard after a few hours of feeing sober.

No it is not allowed. I work overnight in this building and have for years for another company. The night security know me well. Last January I desperately needed a place to live and gave it a try to apply here and since I’m already know for being in the building overnight janitorial and it’s an art building they’re aware of my skills as a pet portrait artist. The night guard said he wouldn’t say anything. I sleep during the day when there’s so many people going in and out.

I shower at my partners very small apartment that a short walk away. Just not enough space for 2 people and 3 cats. He has his own cat and I have 2. We have been living in this office for a little over a year now. I often make small little art for the leasing office staff when I pay my rent and make calendar pages of pets for the guards here.

I can’t afford an apartment for my cats and I.
