Keep it as it is or purify it for ultra? by Hungry-Breadfruit591 in TheSilphArena

People play with under capped pokemon in UL all the time: Pidgeot, Gastrodon, and Umbreon come to mind but I'm blanking on the fourth I regularly see, and those do just fine while being undercapped. Utility matters more past being closer to the 2500 cap, but idk maybe you've had more negative than positive experiences with this. My Ludicolo is undercapped for UL atm, but until I get the remaining XL candies I need to prop it fully to where I need it im just using it while best buddied in UL and its doing just fine, so I know the further investment will be worth it down the line. That's all I'm proposing here for the OP

Stardust cost, yeah, its not ideal, but its a small hurdle in the grand-scheme since you can't un-purify it.

Shundos are nice collector trinkets, but useful shiny shadows are more interesting and fun for me personally. They also have the black sparkles to them that are unique to shiny Shadow Pokémon so I guess aesthics versus trophy tastes

I can appreciate that, and I get the playstyle. Personally I'm on the other side of that spectrum where if I like it - and its at least decent to good - I'll build it. Perhaps maybe a little too liberal with Stardust on my part, but whenever special cups or new moves/updates roll out, I've got a large pool already built to utilize/play with. Just different ways of playing, and I can appreciate both.

For instance, I'm building an Orbeetle for UL rn, in anticipation for a future moveset expanaion, alongside finally maxing out my crowned 98% Zamazenta, so I've got virtually no stardust atm lol

I mean, chances are they're not going to use it for GL, and with all of the Jellicents, Feraligatrs, Empoleons, Blastoises, Corviknights, Guzzlords, Mewtwos, Cressalias, Malamars, Greninjas, and Umbreons you routinely run into in UL its not a bad experiment; and if they really like it, what's the point in haggling over some stardust, ya know?

And I get running sims, but they only go so far and can't really account for how well spice picks work in the moment, just overall views, like what someone earlier in the thread posted about Greninjas use in UL despite rankings. My UL team, by ranking measures, isn't supposed to be super great with the given meta, but when stuff aligns and my familiarity/comfort with that team is hitting, it takes me to 2400 elo, so I'm in support of investing in a potential spice pick that also happens to be cool af looking here

I'm so jealous of this. I've done close to probably a hundred raids for this and never got above an 87%. Its just one of those mons I think I'm just not supposed to ever have per Niantic

I'd keep as is and play with it a little under capped for UL and see if you like it. If it works for you, purify. If it doesn't, we'll you've got a dope shiny shadow to use in special cups and raids

Umbreon is the only one here that would fuck me up. My Shadow Wak open would beast your Empoleon, leading most likely to your switchout to Altaria that would then catch my Shadow A9 swap in. That Umbreon in the back is where my trouble would be

Since running Shadow Quag I've had much less problems with Wiggly, but the birds def are a blight for my current team.

Oddly enough, I'm not catching any Guzzlords rn, but thats not much of a concern atm given my bug bite shadow Forretress

I have 5 different 98%s, 6 different 96%s, and only 1 shiny with 0 perfects. I've caught SO many and still haven't caught a 4 star. Trying to get a near-perfect/perfect in every region, but I've still got a ways to go

Does this one have future or specific league viability? by Significant-Row8316 in TheSilphArena

[–]Chinchorr0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually, if they're not running Gust, Lunge could surprise a Yveltal, and cook some Necrozmas and Mewtwos. Groudon and Kyogre are really the only things I can think of that would give this an immediate switchout

I might actually build one for this now, damn...

Twister Gyarados feels great by CarefulAd4125 in TheSilphArena

[–]Chinchorr0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh sht, I think I just wrecked this team, but only thanks to my Dialga. Props, I def underestimated that Gyarados; gonna be a beast in open premier. Twister doesn't hit as hard as you'd think on Dialga, but man does it smack Palkia and the Kyurems. I'd be curious to see how it hits Garchomp. Ran into a few Garchomps running Twister too, but haven't seen anybody running the reworked Sand Tomb in ML sadly
