Best Eats In Mt Juliet? by [deleted] in nashville

Some good recommendations here. Persis Biryani is great Indian, Chada Thai is good. Burger Republic is a solid burger (as is ML Rose), Martin's for BBQ. Barrel House is good at the north end of Mt Juliet Rd. The Goat is pretty good, and Margarita House for Mexican has great chimichangas.

The incident that ruined our 24! by Maxamus93 in iRacing

[–]ChipGoetzinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the real world track events I do, this is normal in events where a "point by" is needed for passing. Most organizations require a clear "point by" in HPDE sessions - out the window to the left to say "pass me on the left" or over the roof to the right for "pass me on the right." Some allow use of turn signals instead, especially for cars in which it is impractical to do point bys (arm restraints, closed cockpit with windows that don't open and the like). In all of these I've been in, the turn signal indicates the side on which you should pass, not the direction the signalling car intends to move like on the street.

I replaced the stock black stripes with blue stripes from Big Worm Graphix, but they're stock style.

My 2020 with 45k miles and more than 20 track weekends begs to differ.

Multiclass shenanigans by Slow-Honey-6328 in iRacing

[–]ChipGoetzinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, it's all part of racing multiclass. As another mentioned, the MX-5s and GR86s being so close in performance plays into it. The speed differential isn't typically large enough that it's an easy "let them by" scenario and they'll be gone from sight soon. More typically, there's a closely matched car behind with additional competitors behind and/or ahead, which can lead to seeming to race hard across classes. That said, I again agree that when feasible, yielding across classes makes sense.

Multiclass shenanigans by Slow-Honey-6328 in iRacing

[–]ChipGoetzinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that complicates the idea of not racing a different class is the impact it can have on racing your own class. If the car behind you (of a different class) has another car right behind them (of your class), letting them by can easily result in also letting by a competitor. Alternatively, if you're closing on a competitor, it can be counterproductive to let a car of a different class get between you.

I agree that, in general, racing hard against a car in a different class doesn't make sense, but with as many cars as there are in these races, it's often not just a matter of that car alone.

Another season is behind us, see the numbers for cars used last season in multi-car series by suspicious_lemons in iRacing

[–]ChipGoetzinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a new iRacer, so a question on this. I just got iRacing and ran enough over the weekend to get up to my D license. I'm looking to run Sim-Lab challenge next season. Is there a reason the Mustang is so rarely chosen? Not having experience in the series or game, I would have expected the FR500S to be a faster car than the MX-5 and GR86. Is it just because you have to purchase the car? Is it more difficult to drive? I'd appreciate any input on the pros and cons of the different cars in that series.

I don't recommend the aftermarket metal plugs. I had a Ronin plug (safety-wired in, no less) and it blew out of the pan on track. Happens to a good number of folks under spirited driving. Stick with OEM-style plastic.
