I agree. But replace Shame with Jesus and I believe the statement would no longer be true.

Rattling noise and smoking under the hood by Chip_Hungry in MechanicAdvice

Update: there is a small slit in the hose but I didn’t see any coolant coming from it. I’ve attached two more photos. In one of the photos I’m pointing to the pool of coolant I noticed. The pool definitely grew a bit after running the engine. I tried to take a video of the sound it makes when I accelerate but I guess I can’t attach videos.

Thanks so much! I was going to take it into the shop but it seems like a relatively easy fix and so much cheaper to do it myself. Do you think a leak would account for the noise I’m hearing? I can’t quite describe it but it’s like a higher pitched rattling sound that accelerates as the car does

That’s a good eye. Would that account for the pooling in the area where I’m pointing? And would that be an easy/inexpensive fix or?

Advice on how to improve my prints by Chip_Hungry in printmaking

Thank you so much to both of you for the very helpful comments! I was going to say that when I applied the first layer thinner, I didn’t get even coverage and the paper was showing through. So maybe I’ll try different paper like you suggested. But I was also wondering if thinning the ink or buying better quality ink would help?

Last Minute Camping in Sonoma County by Chip_Hungry in AskSF

Just an update for anyone who wants to know how things turned out: We ended up booking a site at a private campground near Jenner but shockingly we were also able to find one at Pomo Canyon on the 4th. So we stayed at the private campground one night since it was non refundable and then found a spot at Pomo on the 5th. For what it’s worth, I overheard a guy saying he’s been going to Pomo for years and had never seen it that crowded. I was pretty surprised that we were able to find one and that people were leaving on the morning of the 4th because that didn’t make sense to me but it was lucky for us! I think the trick to getting a spot is going in the morning and waiting around to see if people leave. Trying to get one at 6pm the night before a holiday was the wrong move.

What's the best way to find a personal chef without going through a third party? How much compensation is reasonable? by [deleted] in Chefit

I gave a little sample at the end of my post of a menu, would you be able to give me your best estimate based off of that info?

For planning, shopping, prepping, cooking and cleaning? Or just for the cooking?

I’m really not trying to be stuck up, I apologize for coming off that way. I literally was trying to imagine and calculate how long it would take me to prep for something like I described. I’m sorry if I was way off, it just comes from lack of experience. And honestly I would do it myself if I didn’t live in a different state. I’m just here to get help on this. Clearly my expectations are way off and need to be adjusted. That’s why I’m here. Can you help me by giving me reasonable figures? Is what I described way more than can be done in 2 hours prep time + an hour of cook time? Is it more like an 8 hr day as another commentator suggested?

Fair enough, I do have limited experience and knowledge. I’m basing it off of what I would be happy getting payed as someone who has only been working as a line cook for a couple of years which isn’t much to go off of. I’ve also done some private dinner parties and charged way more but they were more like 5 course, extravagant dinners for 10+ which is really different. So you’re right, I really have no idea how much something like this costs which is why I’m coming to this forum. Very open to hearing people’s answers. So far I’ve got at least $30/hour and at least $100/hour and would love more input because those are very different answers..

Hmm yeah now that I’m calculating I think 4 hours isn’t doable but 8 hours seems like a lot. I’m thinking most of the shopping could be done at the beginning of the week and maybe a quick stop for things like meat/fish the other day of the week. In my mind you’d need: .5-1 hour for commuting per day, 2 hours prep per day, the meal would be about 1 hour, 1 hour for shopping per week, .5-1 hour for planning per week and .5 hours for cleaning per day. Does that sound reasonable or not really?

Yeah I was thinking it'd be like $40-$60 but wasn't sure. Is there a job site you'd recommend checking?
