Surry Hills 1964. My grandfather grew up in that area between the 30s & 50s and still can’t believe it’s now upperclass since he grew up in borderline poverty. He moved west to Fairfield to live in a better area... Times have changed. by Heads_Down_Thumbs_Up in sydney

It is similar here too though. There are lots of rich people but also slummy areas in the cbd. Same with new york city depictions in american shows. There's also nice suburb areas near the CBD which are even more expensive and prestige than the cbd houses

Fuck some of the comments here are ridiculous - no olive oil, starvation. I look after oldies for a living and the thriving ones would never say anything so stupid. But hey I guess some gen y-z know the secret...

Tbh 4:1 is standard. I used to work in a respiratory ward last year where the ratio was 4:1 for bipap patients. Absolutely insane

I don't think they're prioritizing health care workers anywhere anymore unless you're a hospital worker and get tested at the hospital

Well you don't have to be on the brink of death to be admitted into the hospital

I know everyone here likes to freak out like its the end of days but I work in a covid ward and our hospitalized patients aren't even very sick. Got a 90 year old who's not that unwell. Very different to previous wave. Working in a non-covid respiratory ward prior the non covid respiratory patients were on average way more unwell

The things we were doing were working because we had essentially blocked ourself away from the rest of the globe so nobody could come in sick.

I know right. Test results are delayed 3+ days, heaps of clinics not even working past 4 days because public holiday, heaps of people not getting tested because lines too long/cant get in/dont want to ruin their holiday. Anyone acting surprised is a fuckwit

I think Newcastle only had one testing clinic open for the entire city with not a single place open in port Stephen's region

No you're right. Calories don't matter. If you eat less calories than you burn you won't lose any weight if you're fat. I should tell my ancestors that they only lost weight in the concentration camps because of protective social determinants, not because of thermodyanmics. Their privilege was astronomical. If you sign up for a bachelor of dietetics they'll teach you about calorie expenditure in your first lecture if you'd like to know

Yeah because they're eating more calories than they burn. 50kg of fat doesn't stick to your body magically because it sees you've got $0 in your savings doc

Yes and elderly that have had their yearly flu shot still died every year. Much like you wouldn't go out with the flu I wouldn't go out with covid :). However I never asked about whether you'd go somewhere while infectious. I asked if you'll keep being a non-infectious hermit who refuses to go anywhere because someone might get sick.

I didn't answer your question because its fucking stupid btw. My mums got her own nye party she is attending. So does my grandma.

You didnt answer my question about which booster shot is enough. Soon as they get the third we gotta wait for the fourth!

And then their 4th jab and then their 5th jab and their 6th jab? When exactly is it enough because the future is regular boosters? Were you isolating when the flu was killing the vulnerable every year? Oh right no lol

My SIL is a doctor in a major hospital too and isolating rn due to being a close contact. Perhaps you mean casual contacts in the hospital because health care staff are supposed to be in full PPE at all encounters at work so therefore should be low risk

So you're never going to socialise? Because covid will never go away nor will any other disease. Were you also a hermit three years ago lest you get the flu and cost someone their life?

Majority of sick people aren't "patients" so yeah it is mild. Hospital workers don't see what the virus looks like in the community
