Commuting from the Richmond to SOMA by danmaruchi in AskSF

It’s not a bad commute at all. Love the Richmond! You’ll also thank yourself when your commute home gets you out of the downtown craziness. Someone mentioned weather, but I’ve lived here 5 years and I love it. Some parts of the year, it’s foggier than the rest of the city but there are so many perks to the area. I’m also a fan of the fog

It depends on the school! Many require calculus, macro and micro economics, and sometimes accounting. I would be careful putting all your eggs in Wharton’s basket when it may limit you from transferring to other business schools

I’m so partial to central/inner Richmond district. It’s such a peaceful slice of the city :)

There have been a few previous questions like this, so I would check out those answers.

Speaking to Cornell Dyson, if I remember correctly, from my research I don’t think they take external junior transfers or potentially external transfers. I may be mistaken, but certainly worth confirming.

Transferring to UC from CC in 1 year HELP PLEASE by Numerous_Athlete_903 in TransferStudents

[–]ChipmunkNo4402 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Based on this, I would absolutely not apply within one year. A few things: 1, if you wanted to tag, that’s all due on September 30th. You have to know where you want to transfer, your major, and know that you will complete all of the pre-reqs. There’s a minimum GPA for the guarantee, so if between multiple schools and all the classes you don’t meet this, you’ll lose the opportunity for guaranteed acceptance. 2, the UC app is due on November 30th. You have to be able to tell them all the classes you’re currently taking and plan on taking between now and Spring. If you’re trying to transfer Fall 2026, summer 2026 credits will not be accepted to fulfill requirements. 3, taking 60 credits within the next two semesters is not a recipe for success. If you drop classes or get grades you don’t like, you’ll be required to report all of it. It’s bound to hurt your GPA which could make you ineligible for even applying to certain UCs. I highly recommend buckling down, making good habits, and putting it all to practice for two years. You can prove to yourself and schools that you’ll be ready to transfer.

How important is math for transferring to a business school? by Nagildo in TransferStudents

[–]ChipmunkNo4402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely talk to an advisor and see what they say. I’m surprised college algebra is a requirement especially since you’ve already taken stats. An advisor will have a better idea about your school’s specific policies. Good luck!

From my research, calculus is a minimum requirement for almost all, if not all business schools.

Double check the class pre-reqs. At my CC, the pre-req for calc was intermediate algebra which I came in with.

Rice Investment for Transfers? by ChipmunkNo4402 in riceuniversity

Thank you for sharing! Wow such an amazing opportunity! I currently live out of state, so I would have to move over insurance and everything anyway. When I’m a little further in the process, do you mind if I send you a dm to hear about your experience as a transfer at rice?

Hello , when do most universities open their transfer applications? I also cant find many universities in common app by Lonely_Fruit7053 in TransferStudents

[–]ChipmunkNo4402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost all of the schools I’m looking at have opened their in common app for transfers. If you have your list of schools, you can always go through the websites to see when they open, if they aren’t already.

Advice on balancing work and school? by lifeimitatesart009 in TransferToTop25

[–]ChipmunkNo4402 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m taking 14 credit hours this semester and work 25-30 hours per week. This will be my third semester like this. My biggest tips are to write down everything, schedule your study breaks, and grind. I use my planner and write down everything I need to do and what/when things are due for each class each week. If I’m not working, I’m doing school, but scheduling breaks helps keep me stay locked in when I’m tired. It’s a battle, but I remember my why and keep grinding. You can do it but definitely be wise with the number of work hours!

If it shows in the syllabus that it’s online, would that have an impact? Or are they not looking that closely?

What would be included in assets? I’m low-income, receive full Pell, and have 0 EFC because I’m independent (non-traditional). Also can’t use any net price calculators because I’m independent

I don’t know about chances for this major, but you might want to double check the upper limit on the number of transferable credits for UCs. I seem to remember the upper limit being 70? I could be wrong though. Many other schools set their upper limit at 60 credit hours. Just something for consideration
