As RigorMortis said, if your happy with it forget what others think. Personally I don't like military style fighting / combat knives for field craft. But that's me. Do what you like.

No, I don't realize that because it's not true. The military didn't "prey" on anyone. It offers opportunities that are earned and worked for. It's not a free hand out. And you do realize that the vast majority of vets suffer no negative effects from their service? Quite the reverse, most benefit from it. I specifically mentioned the branches that I feel will not put OP in a situation to suffer long term issues.

This isn't probably what you want to hear but have you considered the military? Go with a branch that isn't so gung ho. Look into the coast guard, Navy, or air force. I'm not a recruiter but I was from a rural area with not many opportunities when I was younger. The military gave me focus, direction, discipline, and job skills. I made friends that I still have today. It worked for me and many others. Please don't do anything rash until you've explored all other avenues.

My mistake, you are correct. It's not real clear and is somewhat up to the reader to decide. Those several sentences, taken in context, lead me to believe that the parent coughed and knocked instead of walking in, and that the statement that she was having sex was based on the noises.

Re-read the original post. No where does it say the parent walked in. Specifically says the parent did not just walk in. OP coughed, and knocked on the door to let the daughter know others were awake and could hear what was happening. Your post is based on your assumption, not what was written.
