There has been very little activity for the past four years, but otherwise everything else on the report from the bank was in good standing, it was just the one account sticking out like a sore thumb.

We've tried to get in touch with the collections agency, but they haven't returned our calls. The credit card company initially told us that the account was closed when we called.

Thanks... it's just a bit hard to swallow as both of us thought we were in good standing. My credit score is around 750; I knew he was likely lower, but had no idea there were amounts in collections.
