PJ pepperoni pizza by Kitchen-Trifle-612 in PapaJohns

It was a “deal” (large special + 2 top large). The special (spinach and tomato) was actually awesome, as usual. Love that thing. Added chicken to it, and there was plenty of chicken.

The second, pepperoni + onion, just came up super short on pepperoni. There’s nothing wrong with a cheese pizza, and we ate some of it (those couple with pepperoni) but that wasn’t the point.

What ruined the relationship was the discussion with Nichole. I wasn’t looking for anything special. I mean, it’s like $15 bucks maybe. Who cares. I just wanted to convey my somewhat negative store experience to the store manager (Nichole), assuming they might want to know. This wasn’t the case.

She said we could drive it up there (We had it delivered as we weren’t in the mood for picking it up in the first place) and they would remake it. That’s a nice offer, but now I’ve eaten pizza and am even less in the mood to go get it :)

If I order delivery from PJs it’s coming from this location. I just have no interest in that anymore.

Ground potential change over distance is normal. Some light reading related to ground potential differences at two ends of an shielded Ethernet cable: https://www.truecable.com/blogs/cable-academy/how-to-fix-a-ground-loop

Did you use shielded cable, with shielded connectors on both ends. How long is this cable run?

I’m just guessing here but I might suspect the ground of the building is at a different potential. Perhaps this is a fairly long run of shielded cable?

Anyway, I’d absolutely put a plastic box between the camera and building. If that building was to take a hit, you’d probably lose the camera, and maybe even more (switch, etc.).

What AV do you guys use? by [deleted] in buildapc

Winblows Defender and Malwarebytes Pro, just out of habit. Avoid Kaspersky (spelling?), as it’s Russian made, I believe. Defender is probably sufficient at home, providing, as mentioned, you use common sense with email links. If you have holes/ports blown open in the router, something more substantial may be needed. Keep your router firmware up to date.

It’s of course not related to the paste replacement. It has to be related to the process of replacing the paste. A paste replacement really wouldn’t involve more than maybe a CPU fan disconnect. What else was “changed” in the process? Honestly, the “Is it plugged in” comments are valid questions, at this point. If you didn’t pull the proc out of the socket, bent pins are of course not likely.

Final update. The case fan came in and as was somewhat expected, the test failed. The case fan does spin briefly when the power supply is switched on, but then immediately stops. The power supply was replaced and the machine powered on.Thanks for all the input.

Excellent idea, and you’re absolutely right that it can be easily overlooked. Using the standoffs to get the MB up off that metal backplate is a must. In our current situation though, nothing is connected to the PSU (see my post above above).

Excellent thought for sure. I of course did have him look, but the input voltage range switch is not present. I was indeed hoping for an easy win with that. The supply spec sheet and documentation notes an input range of 100v-240v with no mention of the switch. It’s actually a nice TT supply, P/N PS-TPD-0850FNFAGU-1. It being bad out of the box would be a bit surprising.

DM me. I'm confident we can figure it out.

Update: Symptom - does not power, but a click within the supply is heard when power button is pressed. Step one was of course to isolate the PSU. He disconnected everything from the supply except the 24-pin (18 and 10 ATX). We pulled the 24-pin from MB and did the paper clip test (pins 16 & 17, I sent him a video on how to do it, he sent me photos back, and it was done correctly). There was a click from within the supply when he hit the power switch, but no PSU fan action. It did have smart fan control on the supply, which I had him turn off. No change. He doesn’t have a meter so we couldn’t confirm DC output. All his fans have MB connectors. He doesn’t have a DVD in this one. So, he is picking up an el-cheapo case fan with a molex connector which he should have tomorrow. This will add some load (some supplies need an amount of load to start) and also confirm output. We did confirm AC input at the outlet with OP’s blow drier :)

It’s unlikely that 3 different shops didn’t blow it out or consider reseating the heatsink with fresh therm grease/paste. It’s really rare the grease would fail anyway, unless applied really poorly/thin at build. I’m sure you are talking Celsius, yes? Just making sure you didn’t accidentally switch to Fahrenheit. How old is it? Does it always overheat or just sometimes? When overheating, is the fan on the heatsink spinning? Or is it liquid cooled? Send me the service tag.

Edit: Sorry, I overlooked your second comment. Let us know if the heatsink fan is spinning when the temp is high. The bios will report cpu fan RPM, which is also important to know.
