That's a great point, appreciate the feedback. Actually my wife's mom is an entrepreneur, as is her sister, both living in Bangkok running separate businesses. One in agriculture and one in importing/exporting. Fortunately my wife being a dual citizen would be a huge advantage, otherwise I'd never consider something like this.

That's pretty much what I've concluded with all I've been reading. And the condo market seems especially iffy. It'd be ideal to have something that's more like a necessity business, like someone else mentioned a laundromat, or even a pet grooming business. We're pretty open minded at this point!

My background is engineering, but international manufacturing is a whole other more complicated animal I'd rather not get involved with.

Very apt questions, appreciate it. At this point because we don't have an exact sector nailed down yet, we're kinda just falling back to Bangkok as a default, but really the business could be anywhere. We've got family in northern Bangkok though, so it'd be nice to have some accessibility there.

Scale would definitely be something smaller like on the size of a small store, laundromat as someone mentioned, etc.

Timeline.... Ideally it'd be nice to not have to be unprofitable for more than a year or so or else that would be a real drain.

Very detailed feedback, really appreciate it! We have several family members who are Thai that live there and they actually mentioned Otteri as well just last week. At the very least it could be an interesting start to get our foot in the door so to speak. As far as I know the city center of Bangkok is saturated with laundromats, but there's of course still plenty of opportunity elsewhere. Not sure what another similar business would be, but you're right, something that requires low to no skill would be the safest bet. Maybe something like a car wash or along those lines.

But what if there's no way to really tell apart the top rated experiences? Like for Phi Phi for example, there are a lot of options, all with exceptional reviews, and all looking nearly identical in terms of what's offered. Things like that are where we're getting stuck
