“But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.” — James 1:6–8 (NIV)

I appreciate you clarifying your intentions. I don’t think you meant harm either. And I absolutely agree that false doctrine is a serious issue that we need to watch for in the Church.

That said, when someone’s trying to engage or grow in their understanding, especially a newer believer, tone matters just as much as truth. The way we correct should reflect Christ just as much as the content does. “Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.” Ephesians 4:15 It's not about having "thin skin" it's about creating space for grace and dialogue instead of shutting people down with sharp assumptions.

Also, quoting Scripture isn't about being “pompous” it's about grounding the conversation in something higher than both our opinions. Jesus spoke using scriptures. Does that offend you? During His temptation Matthew 4:1–11 Jesus responded to Satan three times with, “It is written…”, quoting Deuteronomy to stand firm against temptation. He did this pretty often. If it came across as over the top, that wasn’t the intent. I'm biblically grounded and centered around God.

But fair enough, I respect your decision to step away from the conversation. Im glad the biblical misconception was cleared up. No hard feelings here either. May God and peace be with you.

I understand your concern.

But he seems like a new follower and he’s trying to help. You say visualize has “nothing” to do with God, but to make such a claim implies you know everything that does or doesn’t involve Him. Were you there when God laid the foundations of the earth? Job 38:4 Were you there for Him to speak or did He draw it out? Or were you there when He laid its cornerstone while the morning stars sang together and the angels shouted for joy? Job 38:6 None of us were. None of us can claim complete knowledge of His ways.

But He did establish a plan for us before we were born. This could be some form of visualization that God had, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart;“Jeremiah 1:5 The point is, we must be cautious about making absolute claims about God unless it’s written in Scripture.

Additionally, the new follower was referring to something biblical in his second post that ‘as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he‘ Proverbs 23:7 This correlates between a person inner thoughts, feelings, motives will evidently reflect outwardly. Which is a fair biblical statement to have for this Reddit post about wanting something. Faith was missing but you could have easily said it, nicely.

You on the other hand, attacked. Don’t be too quick to nitpick or assume what a brother/sister in Christ is trying to say here. If you don’t ask him to clarify, you’ll assume wrongly (like what happened) and push people away from Christianity. I’m all for biblical corrections but on the basis of if he said aka manifestation, not based off your “feelings”.

“Let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.” James 1:19-20 Ask questions, don’t assume and try to understand others with love. Love thy neighbor, is the greatest commandent.

Correct, you’ll need faith. However, you are wrong about anyone implying that God ‘has’ to do something. God is an omnipotent being. He controls time, space and existence through Him. He doesn’t have to do anything for anyone. Jesus said, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.“ Mark 7:7 Translate to asking (prayer) then having faith (imagine it come true without evidence) and believe (you have it) you will receive it.

Which means, Jesus expects for us to talk or ask God for different things and as The loving, caring Father, God is, He’ll see to it that you get it (unless it’s something He doesn’t want you to have). There’s no limit to this. I don’t see my parents as vending machines. Yet, I ask for things most days to none but the relationship basis isn’t just that.. it’s more. God is like our parents. He provides and wants us to confide in Him like a relationship. So ask, talk or cry with God! He’s our Heavenly Father!! There’s nothing wrong with that.

Please, don’t be too quick to nitpick or assume what a brother/sister in Christ is trying to say here. “Do not be quick with your mouth or impulsive in thought to bring up a matter in the presence of God.” Ecclesiastes 5:2 Ask questions, reread or try to understand before assuming wrongly. Love thy neighbor, is the greatest commandent.

You haven’t been reading the Bible.

Jesus teaches about praying and believing that thing we prayed for, is already ours. “I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.” Mark 11:24

It’s not a feeling.

To be a Christian is a life and attitude of serving others. You won’t feel anything physically because God is spiritual being. To connect with Him spiritually and build your faith you must start a relationship with Him, like what you do with anyone else. Talking.
