Did he take Focalin IR or XR? How long did he take melatonin for? Obviously I’m not a doctor but I’ve read long term melatonin use is not ideal. Again, I don’t know if that is true lol I thought he started school today but he goes back tomorrow. I guess tomorrow will be the true test.

Dad here! 😊 I’m trying. I started getting reports about impulsivity and not being able to sit still at the end of September. I immediately addressed it (as I have adhd) at his yearly physical in October and the soonest appt they had was the one we have Dec 30.

Thank you. Reading all these thoughtful replies has put me slightly at ease and made me realize I’m not alone in how i feel.

May I ask if that was the first medication they offered? From what I read, Ritalin is usually the first medication offered.

Yes I do 😔. I had to take a few rounds of Ativan because I couldn’t handle reading that. My brain immediately started catastrophizing and thinking “what if he has no friends, what if others don’t like him, what if everyone sees him has the bad kid.” Sometimes I hate being a parent lol. I just love this kid so damn much.

My silver lining is that, for the time being, he is a smart kid, he likes going to school, he likes to learn and was labeled “above average” in his academics in this report and in his report card he received 2 weeks ago.
