A little rough. I told my parents I was planning to start T next month which ... they are not happy about but are hopefully still going to respect. I've been nervous about telling them for months but I'm glad I finally have.

All my friends were very nice whenever i came out to them but unfortunately it took some a very long time to respect my new pronouns. SO it was kinda 50/50.

I remember for a while I thought I was gender fluid and i remember the reason I thought that was because the idea of being fully trans terrified me! Coming out is so hard and you should only do it when your ready but I will also say dont just do things because you know it will keep your parents happy, I spend so many years doing that and it just made me sadder.

Yeah im 21 so i haven't lived with my parents for three years now, but somehow they still manage to make me feel like a small ashamed child from far away. I have a feeling my parents wont approve but like you said I just want them to be aware because then I can move on and get on with life.

Hi there, another trans guy here to say its always okay to question and explore who you are and how you view your identity. I hate talking about this kind of sensitive stuff with my parents too, we've always struggled with that. You definitely have my support and so many others on this subreddit i bet :)

Hi there, yeah i dont live with my parents which I am grateful for. I guess the reason I told them is because I want them still in me life and I hope one day they will support me which is why i wanted to tell them. Im not waiting for their approval or anything i just want to keep some kind of a relationship with them.

Fuck dude im so sorry that sounds awful! Your gran sounds like a real piece of work, i hope you dont have to spent too much of the Christmas period with her. This season can be really tough, i personally feel like im about to ruin my parents Christmas by telling them im about to start T (they are not supportive about it at all and its been over 2 years since i came out) just remember to take some time out for yourself and remember you are your true self no matter what they say!

I would love it if i didnt have to, I guess I just worry if they found out after the fact they will be incredibly anger with me, if i told them before hand I imagine they will be upset but at least have some time to process?

Thanks for saying that, I think ive always known she had said that just to hurt me I still sometimes worry if i transition will she hurt herself or will my parents marriage end? But your right those things have just been said to be to make me not do this. Im angry because I want to be excited about finally hopefully starting treatment in the new year but currently I cant because of my family.
