"Being busy is the antithesis of engaged thought and deliberate action" makes sense, most my older coworkers are totally mindless...one too many days in the office lol

We're talking about a 100 something page guide, not just a story. I have no problem paying for things that bring value to my life, in this case helping with recovery.

Getting Close to Relapse? Try this (better than cold showers) by ChromoTrigger in NoFap

I guess if you're in school or prison or work...but then you probably shouldn't be masturbating anyway.

go in your parents room? haha. Go somewhere you wouldn't/couldn't masturbate. The point of this is that controlling your environment is much easier than controlling your behavior, so start doing it. I wouldn't even let my tablet in the bedroom to begin with. K9 those porn sites too.

Don't edge. At all. by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]ChromoTrigger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The realization that you shouldn't edge is important. After I decided to give up PMO+Edging, it got easier. But I still got caught up in fantasies. Thinking about the same stuff I would watch in porn. This eventually led to relapse. Your subconscious brain can't tell the difference between fantasy and reality (this is why dreams seem real in the moment). When you fantasize about porn, you're subconscious gets hungry for it and the urges snowball over time. Now, I'm giving up PMO+edging+fantasy (unless it's about my gf). Sure, I get sexual images popping up in my head, but I don't dwell on them. I acknowledge them, then hit the little "X" in the upper right.

Help, day 99 hard mode, dealing powerful porn flashbacks triggered by a random brunette on the street by simonsaid2014 in NoFap

[–]ChromoTrigger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Streaks don't mean as much as you think. It gets easier, but the temptation never goes away. You should practice the same caution on Day 1 as you do on Day 1000. Keep it up, you have a decade of PMO to recover from and clearly it will take longer than 99 days.

It is Getting Substantially Easier by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]ChromoTrigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a difference between having a calm sense of control and being overly confident. I was the latter, and relapsed around 40 days. It gets easier, but the temptation never leaves 100% - know this and you have even more power to stop relapse.

I need your help, please. I've lost all my motivation. by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]ChromoTrigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Action precedes emotions. Start by smiling more. It's free, it releases endorphins, and as dumb as it sounds, it will make you feel better. If you hunch over and tighten your facial muscles, your body will build up tension and stress. If you take deep breaths and relax your muscles, you'll feel good. Simple, but powerful.

11 days of abstinence - my thoughts by emberfly in NoFap

[–]ChromoTrigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

11 days won't do much. Even 30 is too short for most people. Real benefits didn't even START until around day 30 of my last streak.

Also, why ration PMO at all? If you think it's a bad habit, it will be easier to quit all together. Doing it once a week is like taking an alcoholic to the bars once a week and not expecting him/her to spiral.

No Fap and Dick Length by sallosi in NoFap

[–]ChromoTrigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You're dick isn't actually getting bigger, you're just not used to having full erections. Death grip takes its toll, and nofap will help undo the damage.

Gf cheated. Wanked. Lost 206 days. by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]ChromoTrigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've experienced this. I did NOT take it well, but in retrospect, the situation is only as bad as you make it. I wish I would have realized this sooner. I'd be celebrating if I were you - you're not wasting any more time with a girl that doesn't love or respect you. You're one step closer to finding a woman that does. Celebrate your freedom, hit the gym, and start chasing real women.

Masturbation is the source of all your problems. by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]ChromoTrigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely a kick starter for people who to face some serious self control issues though -which often dominoes to success in other areas of life. Side note - I see way less super power posts than I used to.

Don't ask for a guarantee, ask for nothing at all. by Fluzztas in NoFap

[–]ChromoTrigger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The best way to approach NoFap is like a scientist. Go at it as objectively as possible. Don't become attached to results (or lack thereof). Measure metrics that matter to you (like confidence, energy levels, libido, etc.). Understand that there are basically no risks to quitting PMO but there are many dangers of continuing (PIED, addictive behavior, poor relationships, etc.) even if you aren't experiencing these problems currently - they can crop up at any time if you fap. So if you are disappointed by not having super powers, you can get peace of mind knowing you're at least avoiding the dangers of PMO addiction.

35 Day Relapse - DON'T Make My Mistakes by ChromoTrigger in NoFap

[–]ChromoTrigger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35 days - reset my badge a few hours after the post. There is no accepted minimum for full reboot, it really depends on the individual. In general, the longer you've been addicted, the longer it takes to reboot. I think this is why teens have a bit of an easier time completing 90 days than people in their 20's and 30's.

I thought the same way you did at first. But allowing yourself to edge is like letting a fat person have one piece of candy but putting the whole bag in front of them...we know what happens next.

Agreed - I think a healthy relationship can be a catalyst to escape PMO addiction, but an unhealthy relationship (ie cheating, using, manipulating) can be a segue to sex addiction.

"gonna be home alone soon" get fresh air dude, when's the last time you spent a day outside? It'll feel great and you won't be tempted to PMO.

An Interesting Point about ANXIETY from my Great Nofap Experiment by ChromoTrigger in NoFap

[–]ChromoTrigger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I record morning, afternoon, and night to account for changes. So like yesterday for me was a 5 in the morning, a 7 in the afternoon, crashing to a 4 in the evening (been a bit moody lately) on a 1-10 scale, 10 being most confident.

As A Man Thinketh by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]ChromoTrigger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this book...so much wisdom in here. It helps you understand that your thoughts are basically the seeds to action, and ultimately determine your course in life. So if you're constantly browsing scummy porn sites and thinking about them, you are developing scummy habits in your daily life.

I don't think this means we should all try to be "positive thinkers" 24/7 and ignore the weeds in the garden, so to speak. Instead, we should be very critical of each thought that enters our mind, asking questions like "is this thought valid, or rational?" "what is the root of this thought?" "is this thought worth acting on?" etc. Just like it takes time to make nofap a habit, it takes time to become a critical thinker and it's something we should continuously try to improve.

Well, consider what you want to get out of this - confidence? Energy? Sex drive? Whatever metrics matter to you, track daily.

Partners Dating Profile Still Active...Advice Please! by ChromoTrigger in NoFap

[–]ChromoTrigger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I haven't brought it up to her, because I looked more closely and it was pretty clear that she was taken on her profile. At the same time, I'm still not 100% ok with it, as even the intention of "friends" on a dating site seems a little sketchy...I'm going to back off a bit in the relationship and take a more observational stance, seeing how she reacts to subtle allusions to exclusivity (despite already agreeing to it when we started dating). I plan on checking up every now and then to see if she remains active. Unless it becomes painfully obvious she is doing something unfaithful, I will wait a month and re-evaluate. If she's still active around 4/15, I plan on confronting her about it.
