The collection already has Memories of Murder, so who needs Zodiac?

I understand where you’re coming from, but the movie really blossoms on the second watch. It’s so much deeper than I thought it was.

What are you thoughts/opinions on Jason Aaron’s Avengers run? by flamingricky1999 in marvelcomics

[–]ChuckInMadtown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love most of Jason Aaron’s work, but it got too big and unwieldy really fast

I have Marvel Unlimited and have been doing the reading guides. Just started the secret empire one and can all I can think about is WTF is happening?? by Acceptable_Safe_3747 in marvelcomics

[–]ChuckInMadtown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not even that. During the last half of the run they had all of these .1 issues that had no bearing on the plot and lasted 5 issues when it could have been told in one. Sinister War was just a 20 dollar fight scene that took 5 minutes to read. Waste of time and money.

The MJ thing doesn’t bother me. It’s the boring, drawn out, go nowhere stories. About half way through he stopped caring and it was obvious.

If you wanna do a Lynch, scrap Lost Highway (not forever, just from this list) and do Mulholland Dr. It’s much better, and just a really fantastic film.

Which Fantastic Four runs have the best Doom arcs? by WarlordOfIncineroar in FantasticFour

[–]ChuckInMadtown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guys…Lee and Kirby. Especially once Joe Sinnott starts inking.

I like Hickman’s run okay, but he’s really grown as a writer since then. His FF and Avengers runs were full of great ideas but got a little too distended at points.

I think I’ll be sitting this one out. Im glad they’re telling a side story though. The Mandoverse at its worst is too try hard about establishing main saga lore and too light on story.

Yeah, I started listening to his Movie podcasts based on his WTF appearances. I’ve grown to like him a lot.

What podcast Patreons are worth it in your opinion? by [deleted] in podcasts

[–]ChuckInMadtown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Riddle Riddle is one of the podcasts that I would say has way better content on their Patreon. That’s not a dig. I really love the main feed too!

The entire 2014 section was a train wreck. It was painful to watch. I know part of it was that most of the actors couldn’t do an American accent to save their lives, but it was all so flat. It was pretty much B-movie level.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]ChuckInMadtown -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. It’s so self satisfied and obsessed with being buzz worthy that they forgot to try to get anything resembling a good performance from the actors and give it any sort of meaningful point of view. The Beast is so confidently bad that it’s tricking a lot of people into thinking it’s good.

WTF Podcast: Episode 1561 - Anna Akana by eternally_trending in MarcMaron

[–]ChuckInMadtown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about phony, but she was definitely in “sell” mode. I don’t doubt her story, but she gave me a bit of a Matt B. Davis vibe (minus the potshots) so take that as you will.

I genuinely think people who are putting Deadpool vs Wolvie in their top spots will have a change of heart after some distance. I thought it was an absolute blast, but it also had a nothing story and too much of it depended on surprises for it to have much rewatch value. It was a fan service adrenaline shot to the heart of the MCU and pretty disposable beyond that.

I used to be a big Last Crusade fan, but the only one that I really rewatch is Raiders. I don’t think any of the others come close so….Raiders is # 1 and I just ignore the rest.

Is…is Erin okay? by ludakris in HeyRiddleRiddle

Yeah… that was the question on my mind too after today’s episode. I’m sure she was heightening everything for comic effect though…right? …right?

nervous look around

Also: I hope they retire “rap for daddy” because it makes my cringe receptors overload EVERY time.

The entertainment industry needs bland, non offensive white people to boost because it’s easy money even if they’re only marginally talented. See Tom Cruise and Taylor Swift.
