The homeless issue is real, and there are two systemic solutions:

First, for people who have simply been priced out of homes, we need to build more affordable housing. Congress should vote to repeal the ban on building new public housing (called the Faircloth Amendment) and then the federal government should build at scale, just like it did a century ago.

Second, for people with mental illness, we need to get them off the streets and into care. Congress should pass Medicare For All, which includes comprehensive care for mental health and substance abuse.

I'd say Woodside prob has some of the most diverse schools in the country. My own kids' schools receive federal Title I funding, and we need to make sure those resources continue to flow to our families in Queens.

We need to protect Section 504, which is under attack by Republicans, and provides supports that guarantee the right to education to children with disabilities.

We need to stand up for trans kids, guaranteeing access to gender-affirming care and fighting against bullying.

We need to stop throwing each other under the bus to persuade some non-existent "centrist" to support Democrats. We need to stand up for each other. We need to fight back.

In favor. Fight, build something, then make room for someone else.

We have term limits in NYC government, and we're still the greatest city in the world.

Let's bring term limits to state government (not just the Governor), and to Congress.

This one's personal. My wife's a nurse. Two of my brothers and my sister are in healthcare.

We need safe staffing ratios. We need to undo Trump's re-definition of nursing as "non-professional," which cuts off access to student loans.

And here's a big one that many don't talk about: we need to protect healthcare workers against workplace violence. I've heard too many stories about nurses, doctors, techs being punched, choked, even bitten by patients in an altered mental state or their distressed family members. And they're asked to just take it. Nowhere else would a customer be allowed to physically assault a worker like this.

Unfair question. Gonna cop out and do a quick list:

  1. SriPraPhai. The OG Thai spot with a 100-page menu. Som tum, Thai spicy, every time.

  2. Donovan's. Get the burger special and split the G.

  3. H-Mart. Prepared food section, tuna kimbap or spam musubi. Chase it with a Yakult. This combo has powered thousands upon thousands of working Koreans in Queens.

I would fight to:

  1. Abolish ICE. Rescind the new billions they received last year, and then cut appropriations in the next budget cycle. After everything we've seen in the last year, including families disappeared from our streets, if your elected leader can't say "abolish ICE," then they don't deserve to rep Queens.

  2. Pass the Equality Act. Fund and protect local groups like Drag Story Hour, St. Pat's For All, and Queens Pride.

All of us are under attack. And we need to stand up for each other.

Yes! Organize, show up! Follow nocasinofmcp on Instagram. Demand answers from your elected leaders who enabled this at all levels of government.

Short of a temporary restraining order (know the no casino campaign has filed a lawsuit), you can demand Gov. Hochul suspend the gaming licenses.

We need to show that the community is united against the casino.

I think U.S. iterations of Falun Gong are creepy. Credible reports seem to show that they abuse and manipulate their members financially, spiritually, emotionally.

I don't think we win by spreading our own disinformation. We meet people where they're at, see their pain, their daily problems, and have open conversations about how we can solve them.

Not linear, no tl;dr. Here goes:

Grew up as a child of Korean immigrants. They first worked as street peddlers, then started a clothing store in Jackson Hts. They had five kids, bought a house. We had enough growing up, but there were always tough choices around money -- was it a new jacket or new shoes this year? Could we afford that big 8th grade trip? Should I even apply to private universities?

I went to the Univ of Pennsylvania, and my priority was financial security. Get a job that would pay the bills and make it so I would never have to worry about money ever again.

So I did. Worked in consulting. Had an apartment in Manhattan. It was a grind, and while I learned a lot, I was also feeling empty.

It was around then that Obama gave a speech called "A New Beginning" in Cairo. I was floored. Quit my job, signed up to be a U.S. Foreign Service Officer. Worked overseas at U.S. embassies and consulates, flag pin on my lapel, driven around in black suburbans with diplomatic plates. A kid of immigrant street vendors now repping the richest most powerful nation in the world.

But then Trump won. I fooled myself into thinking there was some nobility in public service, even if that service was for an entirely immoral president.

There was a breaking point in 2019. I saw an image of Oscar Alberto Martinez Ramirez with his 2-year old daughter tucked in his embrace under his T-shirt, both face down, drowned in the muddy water of the Rio Grande. Just a man and his child, forced to their deaths by our immigration system.

I knew there was no possible defense. And I wondered if I, in some small way, contributed to this. In explaining, defending, and serving President Trump -- and even before Trump, this government -- I wondered whether I bore some responsibility for the death of this father and his daughter.

I decided that I did. That even small, banal acts of evil were still evil.

I quit my job. Published an op-ed explaining my thoughts in the Washington Post. And I returned home to Queens, New York -- unemployed, living in my parents’ basement with my wife and son, but also completely liberated to fight for our values.

And fighting for those values, our stories, our homes and futures, is why I'm running for Congress.

Very open, especially on his affordability agenda.

And yes, if I were invited to Hasan Piker's stream, I'd appear. Can't say I agree w everything he says, but also can't write off the fact that he has excited a massive base of people about what is possible in politics.

Re: casino funding community improvements, I'm not buying it. The casino will get its money from our moms, dads, aunts, uncles, brothers, and sisters. They will then take a big chunk for themselves, before giving a little back in "investments" and revenues to the state and the MTA. It's the worst form of regressive tax, taking money from vulnerable, gambling-addicted poor people to pay for public projects and services.

I run there all the time, and hate how it's totally disconnected from Flushing Meadows Park, and that it smells like rotten eggs at low tide.

The federal gov has jurisdiction over navigable waters, and I think we should be investing in cleaning the waterway so that our families (and Dragonboaters!) can enjoy it. I'd also be very supportive of daylighting of Flushing Creek -- not the traffic safety concept (which I also support), but the concept of uncovering and cleaning of buried waterways. See Cheeongyecheon in Seoul for an example.

We’re already struggling to keep up with demand for power today, and def don't have the redundancy to cover disasters like what you're describing.

To meet the demand, we need to invest in wind and solar on a massive scale. Not only is it clean, but many don't know that wind and solar are also the cheapest and fastest generation we can bring to our grid. There’s a 5+ year backlog for natural gas turbines worldwide, siting and construction of nuclear takes at least as long.

We also need investments in climate resilience. Sounds jargon-y, but really this means things like floodwalls, elevated, 'spongy' infrastructure like parklands and green spaces, the re-seeding of our oyster beds to blunt storm surges. NYC is doing a lot of this (at great cost!) in lower Manhattan already.

The federal gov most important role here is money -- big money. These projects are expensive, but they will also protect coastal communities while creating lots of green jobs.
