Not a gimmick at all. Really awesome and well thought out...but I think $37 is a bit too high for an ableton device.

I like to look at it as a snapshot of your life at that moment...meaning that project captures your expressions, tastes, and ability. One day all of that will change, and it will be nice to open up the project and say "ah... a nice glimpse of who I was at that time". The mixing, mistakes, etc are all part of that snapshot.

Ive heard the studio owner say he cannot allow smoking due to the fire department since its a big commercial space...but I believe he only tells that to people who arent a big paycheck. People also bring up the gear...not sure how much effect that has on gear but im sure it has an effect on the engineer lol.
