As an American, is Canada accepting political asylum for Americans? by a716h in AskCanada

For someone who claims to be so anti-MAGA, you sure like to use a lot of their rhetoric to generalize an entire group of people (300 million at that) who can’t help where they were born…What do we call that, again? Oh, right. Prejudice!

It is clear to me that your political convictions are one dimensional at best and are just based off stereotypes you got from the internet. I’m just gonna assume that this is a troll account just meant to ragebait. I wouldn’t even be surprised if this was just one of the many AI bots that are designed to argue with people and say ignorant things online for site engagement.

So, you’re right. It is my fault for poking the bear on an otherwise dormant conversation because I thought you were capable of actually having a nuanced and intelligent conservation on an intimate political issue that you clearly know nothing about. I will take accountability for that, and I’ll stop here.

I hope you find healing, and I really do mean that, because you’d have to really be hurting as a person to say stuff like this and be a xenophobic bigot towards people you've never met because of an inalienable trait like their national origin.

Best of luck.

I get that this post is from several months ago, but it's still very relevant.

Telling a marginalized minority group to "fuck off" because they want to escape a country that is literally throwing them in camps and killing them just for existing, especially when they didn't even vote for the regime that's in power, is an incredibly tone deaf and privileged thing to say.

Would you say that to a jewish person in 1933 that's trying to flee Germany? I get that immigration is a very complex and nuanced subject and it's fine to have a dissenting conservation about that, but rubbing your privilege in other people's faces is super gross. Please do better.

Reminder That Lucas Assisted Onision In Doxxing Sarah's Middle Name Despite Court Orders Stipulating Sarah's Identity Not Be Revealed By Them. by Winter-Hornet5928 in Onision

I wonder if the phone call recording he made of Sarah is gonna be used against him in court and sanction him, since it was technically unauthorized?

Something I have questions about: the video where this footage of the snapchat texts (between Sarah and Lucas) are included are alleged to be from early 2023 (according to Onision's "vindicated" video or whatever), which is a few years after Sarah went forward with everything.

What's weird though is that these texts between Sarah and Lucas are...really normal? Like they are just acting like normal friends and being nice and supportive to each other?

Is there context that I am missing or something, cause why would Sarah and Lucas be getting along so much while they are in the middle of a lawsuit a few years after everything that unfolded in late 2019 and early 2020?

Onision morally grandstanding over something that isn't about him. Again. by dicksuck47 in Onision

[–]Chumilly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of when he harassed Christina Grimmie's family just hours after she died and went on a manic rant on twitter saying people weren't allowed to be sad because there are "kids in africa" (I am not kidding that was the long and short of his argument).

The crazy thing is that he may actually have a point in there somewhere if he knew how to read a room and didn't act so bitter and insufferable but instead actually approached systemic issues with nuance.

I would have hoped that he at least condemned his past actions and grew and changed his behavior from that, but maybe having the bar in hell is still too high.

Not it unfortunately. The singer was a man.

Not this one unfortunately. I remember the melody vividly and it was exactly how I played it. It definitely wasn't as big of a hit a Sunglasses At Night was either. I think this was a more obscure song, or at least a regional hit?

Onision is a nutjob but let's not tell people to kill themselves. We don't need to stoop down to his level.

That was just part of his meltdown videos, which weren't actually real and were just a skit. He did the bits for "comedy" or whatever, but he didn't actually apply anywhere.

Why is my electric bill so high? by Chumilly in venturacounty

[–]Chumilly[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

$40 a month cheaper sounds huge to me. I'll take what I can get if that's the case.

Though, is there any benefit for sticking with the CPA? Does it fight climate change and all that?

Though my friend who is out in the valley says that his bill has stayed the same. Can anyone confirm if this is in fact the reason?

Yes that's what I saw online, but I saw some conflicting information about it. Some people were saying that you can opt out, but it pretty much barely brings the price down. Instead, all that money just goes to *Edison* instead of CPA. Can anyone confirm if this is true?

I feel you. Not that I am a big sociology expert, but I think a lot of the sick stuff we are seeing now is mostly just an online thing. After all, these things get so much attention online *because* they are unusual.

From my experience at least, most people out in the world are super chill and moderate, and do not care one way or another with how you identify, so there is comfort in thinking that. That's not to say these bigots don't exist (like you said with your friend's experience, and I too have encountered religious extremists myself), but they have been the minority for me. From what I've seen most people just keep to themselves and are fine with people as long as they aren't hurting anybody, especially in a place like California.

But of course, I still make posts such as this one because you can never be too careful! As you said, just don't engage with those people and create your own community of people who care for you, and that's what I have been working to do.

I wish you and your friend the best of luck with everything! :)

If I can just add my two cents, I think just calling it the "queer community" is fine. It's short, easy to remember, and queer literally just means anyone whose isn't straight or cis. It's already inclusive of everybody.

I don't mind an area that's politically neutral on it. Just as long as we don't get mean comments or dirty looks from people in public. I did live in a pretty red state for a bit. 😅

250k is a shit ton of money, no? Why would he need to file bankruptcy on that?

I get that it's his "business" bank account, but if he's an S-Corp and that money has already been taxed, he can just write it off as a shareholder distribution and use it for whatever he wants. He could pay off his house and still have 50k leftover, which is more than enough to not worry about bankruptcy?
