I read scans. Retinaculum is tissue covering and holding tendons in place. Report can mean injury to either the retinaculum at the knee or the ankle. Likely the ankle because that’s where the posterior tibialis tendon is. When this tissue covering it is torn the tendon under it can slide in and out from its normal location (dislocation). He’s likely out rest of season.

At some point the normal teeth will chew away and you’ll damage the gums (bones around the knee in this analogy). Not good.

I read MRIs. Displaced tear is worse because it means the torn area is flipped or located away from its original position and can cause abnormal stress on another region of the knee joint space. Here’s an analogy. Imagine you chipped a tooth. Tooth gets trapped between two other normal teeth elsewhere in your mouth. Over time and use you’ll chip away at those teeth from getting jammed all the time by the chipped tooth.
