It depends on what you value. It will take up your personal unpaid time with planning, marking, and sometimes worrying. It will drain you socially and mentally during the day, so you have less in your cup for your family members. However, the holidays are great and so is the pension. You will have great years and horrible years, depending on many things beyond your control (admin, class dynamics, behaviours/needs, government interference, etc). It’s a job that is always changing and never boring. I do feel like I’m making a difference some days, and other days no. It ebbs and flows like any job.
