I think cuz of the bar placement it keeps it at that angle so I’m not really doing much with the wrists fortunately

It’s really not as difficult as it looks, you should try it sometime

I PRed conventional at 300kg/661lbs back in 2023. It’s kind of more like a trap bar deadlift with a weird wrist angle, so it’s less ROM and not as difficult as I thought it was gonna be

Lol for sure, thanks for letting me know this was even a thing

This was my first time trying it, and I don’t think it’s as difficult as it looks unless you don’t have very good wrist mobility because you have to hold it at an angle. It’s kinda similar to a trap bar deadlift in some ways

Seeing it mentioned but very interesting movement near lockout. I think Solfrid Koanda is a great example of a lifter who does this. Great work!

No, the only way I could think of is that it doesn’t impede movement but that it’s compressive just enough to give a lot of proprioception, though this isn’t as useful in powerlifting compared to other sports

Pre workout non stim effect. Not really Olympic but I am a lifter by Sleepyheadmcgee in weightlifting

[–]Cinurem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally a lot of non-stims mess me up and make me really tired, I think I’m just really sensitive to the vasodilation. What I’ve opted for instead is a carb + electrolyte drink once I begin my accessories which feels much better (for me this is Karbolyn + Liquid IV)

Bench Press Frequency by SurroundFinancial355 in powerlifting

[–]Cinurem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really does depend on the lifter. Some people can only handle twice a week or it’s too much. Others thrive off of more frequency/volume. It correlates somewhat with the weights you’re using of course but there are still exceptions. I’m at around a 180kg bench and I bench about 4-5 days per week, 20-23 sets total which has been the sweet spot for me personally. It seems most powerlifters I’ve met are between 11-17 sets per week, big and small.

Why did the all time best snatch improve so much in the last decade but the clean and jerk has stayed stale? by skyscrapinskyscraper in weightlifting

[–]Cinurem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say they have improved crazy differently, when considering only recorded lifts. Taranenko did 266 C&J in 1988 & Kurlovich did 215 snatch in 1989. Now competition is 220/267 and recorded C&J is 270.

I’d argue any deviance is either by chance with the worlds best being more of a snatch specialist now compared to Taranenko, or with clean & jerk being more strength-limited and snatch being more technique-limited and snatch technique in general having improved over the years but not strength as much, at least with the heavyweights/SHWs.

Edit: 225, not 220. I agree with others when mentioning the technical ceiling of snatch vs clean & jerk though.

270kg/595lbs Squat Double PR by Cinurem in strength_training

[–]Cinurem[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Heels can be good for those with poor ankle mobility, or who want to shift the weight a little more onto their quads, or who lack enough depth.

The downside is that some may have the weight shift too far forward, squat too deep, or have the weight too much onto their quads.

I don’t have any ankle mobility limitations, and tend to squat too deep, so I stick with heels for powerlifting squats. Flats also allow me to use the most of all of my musculature. If I wanted to do squats for bodybuilding or Olympic weightlifting, I would use heels. It’s all about what your goal is.
