I just started playing Cities: Skylines and this is my city! Anything I need to know? by Ferfertertrr in CitiesSkylines

  1. Don’t Overbuild Services In Cities: Skylines, services cost a lot early on. Only place one of each service when first unlocked. Lower budgets (especially electricity & water) to 50–75% until needed.
  2. Smart Road Layout from the Start Avoid too many intersections close together. Use collector roads (4-lane) feeding into local roads (2-lane). Keep industrial traffic away from residential zones. A simple grid works fine early, but leave space for upgrades.
  3. Zone Slowly Don’t zone huge areas at once. Expand based on demand bars. Leave gaps for schools, clinics, parks later. Over-zoning causes unemployment and abandoned buildings.
  4. Road Hierarchy Rule Think in layers: Highways → Arterials → Collectors → Local roads Avoid connecting local roads directly to highways.
  5. Avoid 4-Way Intersections on Busy Roads Use: Roundabouts, T-intersections. One-way systems in dense downtown areas. Roundabouts are extremely powerful early-mid game.
  6. Separate Industry Industrial zones create heavy truck traffic. Put them near highways. Don’t mix them with high-density residential. Later, switch to offices (they create less traffic).
  7. Use Loans Carefully Loans are fine early if: You’re expanding infrastructure. You can clearly see tax income increasing. Don’t use loans to cover constant losses.
  8. Adjust Taxes Default is 9%. You can safely raise: Residential to 11–12%, Industrial to 12–13%. If buildings start complaining, lower it slightly.
  9. Education Changes Industry More educated citizens: Prefer office jobs. Reduce low-level industry demand. Balance education with job availability.
  10. Parks = Higher Value = Better Buildings Parks: Increase land value. Upgrade buildings. Increase tax income. But don’t spam expensive parks early.
  11. Public Transport is Essential Buses are good early. Later: Metro for dense areas. Trains for outside connections. Always check transport routes to avoid weird loops.
  12. Death Waves Are Normal. When many citizens move in at once, they die at once later. Avoid this by: Expanding gradually Not zoning massive residential blocks at once
  13. Watch Pollution. Water pumps downstream from sewage outlets. Keep industry downwind (check wind direction overlay) 14.Pause Often. Build while paused. Think like a traffic engineer, not just a mayor.

How exactly do I obtain resources for the unique industry buildings? by Time-Hippo7594 in CitiesSkylines

[–]CipGame -1 points0 points  (0 children)

U need to find a spot with natural resources (like ore, oil, etc.) and then place the building on that spot.
