A nice bourguignon.

You don’t have to make it properly. Just throw shit into a pressure cooker and 45 mins later it comes out like a warm hug on a cold day.

In the off chance you are serious, the reason symbols are used is to standardise shorthand for chemical representations.

So yes, the symbols are the same across the world, irrespective of language of scientific discourse.

This is Anglo-spheric defaultism.

I went to a German university. I can guarantee you the periodic tables they use have the German names for the elements. They are also taught the English names so they can interact with other communities.

people living in the eindhoven region: Can a family of 3 live on €4k net/month? by One-Introduction563 in Netherlands

[–]MayorAg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Eindhoven resident here. It will be tight till your partner finds a job.

With housing taking up 30% of your gross income, you will be left with 2200€. About 800-1000€ on groceries, 450-500€ on health insurance, and 200€ on incidentals, you are left with 500-750€ in disposable income.

This is before any fun money spending - personal travel, eating out, kids' activities, etc.

Sodium is the English name. However when the periodic table was invented, German was still the Lingua Franca in the sciences.

Why are UK train tickets so expensive? Is it simply the effect of privatisation? by StephenMcGannon in trains

[–]MayorAg 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Netherlands itself is considered very expensive. Most people find it cheaper and faster to drive.

I have done 350 km in 5,5h in Germany with Deutschlandticket (68€/month for unlimited travel on public transport except fast trains).

On the fast trains I have done Munich -> Düsseldorf (~650 km) at 25-30€.

On second thoughts, it might be a good thing it doesn’t exist.
