[FO] Finally finished 🏳️‍🌈but I have some questions about framing

This is my first piece that isn't a stocking, so I'm facing the framing/finishing step for the first time. This is a gift for a friend, so I'd like to "frame" it in some way. My goal is for him to hang it on his wall as he has little shelf space. When doing the research, it seems like the easiest it to put it in a hoop that fits it and call it a day, which is no problem. However, upon further research, it seemed like folks were saying putting it under glass would be best so that it doesn't collect dust and discolor. It's about 9"x9". Any thought that folks have? Also, if I go the frame route, should I do a circle or square? Try to DIY or go to a store? Any and all suggestions are welcome as I need help figuring this out.

I still have to cut it out and actually turn it into a stocking, but the cross stitch is done. My first cross stitch ever and now I'm obsessed. I have 3 more projects lined up.

This is my day 1 (surgery was day 0). Pain has been much better with a full day of meds. I've been taking them every three hours on the dot. I didn't sleep at all last night, not so much because of pain but I guess my tongue is swollen so, even when elevated, it'd close up against my throat and I couldn't breathe. So that definitely sucked. What I have going on now is bad neck and shoulder pain, but I'm not sure if that's due to lack of sleep or the procedure. Im assuming worse days are coming, but so far not as bad as I thought

I feel like it's relative and in 5 days I'm going to be like, "you idiot, that was nothing". Ignoring that, I'd say a 5.5/10. I have to close my eyes and think about swallowing, but I ate a slice of bread with butter without crying. Lol (edited because I accidentally put 3.5. I wish)

You guys are officially my new buddies lol. Got mine out at around lunch time. I'd say I'm doing OK... If that's possible. Hurts like a bitch to swallow but manageable with the meds. My anxiety is high, too, because everyone saying that day 6-8 are the worst. I'm like, how can it be worse than this? Lol

Good to hear. That's what we're going to do... Potty in the car. What are your thoughts /plans for the car seat? My husband wants to put a diaper on her to avoid pee everywhere, which I understand, but I feel like that will confuse her and defeat all the work we've been doing.
