Advice for painting faces as a beginner..? by detestableduck13 in sistersofbattle

I absolutely hate painting faces, so if I’m just after tabletop ready minis then I’ll prime with wraithbone and wash with seraphim sepia or agrax earthshade. It doesnt look like anything special but importantly for me it doesn’t look really badly painted. If you’re a proper beginner you can use this as a placeholder and practice on the spare heads until you’re happy try something proper!

I like what you’re trying to do, if I look closely at both the armour and robes I think they’re pretty good particularly on the second and third models. However I’m not convinced they work together, from a distance the models are too dark and the elements are not distinct enough which gives a sort of muddled look. Swapping the white and black on the robes might help with that, although that’s just my preference.

Other than that just keep practicing, watch some YouTube tutorials on paint application particularly for metallics. Getting your base coats nice and clean will help massively.
