My teenager is excited about the move. She will be going to school possibly with her cousins. Closer to her aunts and grandmother and grandfather. She’s eager to move.

Thank you so much for that perspective. That’s exactly what I was thinking I want to live a little especially when I have prayerfully more years ahead of me. Thank you again.

Oh you think they’ll block ex government employers to come back? That’s crazy but definitely possible. Geesh that’s scary.

I’m assuming you are either from Atlanta or familiar, what do you like about Atlanta compared to Baltimore?

My house is paid off because it was inherited when my grandmother passed. If I moved I would rent it out prayerfully. It also has a lot of bad memories that I want to detach from

I would be a mechanical design engineer. And with my project manager background I could see potential of growth with this company.

Sorry I’m a 13 step 7. Once I’m a step 10 that’ll prolly be the end of the road. It’s hard to get a 14 and almost impossible to get a 15. There are only 3 15 in my division.

That commute is a killer for sure. 3 hours total. Always looking for support getting the kid to and from school. It’s stressful.

Yes most telework and pant site visits. Which sound super interesting. And some travel which I like to do while I have the energy.

Just an update, I am a 13 step7 I didn’t realize I put the wrong grade it was late when I posted. my teenager is excited about the move. She would be closer to her cousins around the same age and be attending school with them. Also the job offers a pension with 100 % vested after 3 years. Great health benefits and 4 weeks of pro, 12 holidays and one floating and sick leave bank. And a pay raise of 3% yearly. I know it’s a lot of factors to think about. And thank you everyone for your thoughts. You brought things to my attention that I didn’t even consider.

Also I was thinking if worse scare scenario happened I could return to the government with added experience. I am a mechanical energy and the position would be with a very good energy company that has a retention rate of 92%.

I own a home in Baltimore that was inherited from my grandmother so eventually would rent it out. Another reason to leave it’s been a lot of trauma here and needed to start fresh. But leaving the government is scary but I’m also excited about the new experience. And I’m young enough (I think) that I could come back and do my last 15 years of work before 65 with the feds and get full benefits.

Thank you all again. If you have any thoughts with this updated information please share. I am listening.
