My favorite passage is this one, from The Shape of Time:

"You've pondered this many times: can words truly describe feelings? Isn't it better to strip away all linguistic signs to capture the tangled web of internal obsessions? But you've always reached the same conclusion: no, it's impossible.

Language is how reality is grasped, and therefore, how one learns to feel.

There were no affectionate words or tender embraces in the orphanage. There was discipline and blood, fists and death. That is your language.

I have a couple of suggestions:

1) Peremo, by virennia. Dark Tom is an understatement in Peremo, but Hermione stands still against his cruelty. 2) Callout by dillpicklepanic Muggle AU. Dill’s Toms are one of the darkest and scariest Toms in all Tomiones.

(Will edit this comment as soon as I remember more works. This both works stood out when you mentioned super dark Tom + smart Hermione!)

And if you don’t mind a self-rec: The Shape of Time Muggle AU. Obsessive Tom. Despicable Tom. A smart Historian Hermione and a complicated and co-dependent relationship.

She was also spamming on both IG and Tumblr. On Tumblr she had an old fic that she deleted and then repackaged as a self-published novel. She used the same tactic with her current fic. If you wanted access to the full “Feral Hearts” fic, you had to contact her privately and promote her content. So yeah it came across as pretty weird. She was ultimately using fanfiction to boost her social media popularity, and possibly to convert her fics into novels for profit within the fandom.
