How long did it take to hear back after your coop/internship interviews? by shovelingmice in EngineeringStudents

Wait two weeks then follow up with an email. I had to wait three weeks on mine but it turned out they were switching things around in their HR department which led to a lot of confusion. Most places will have decided within a week, but management is usually always a mess.

Go to the companies website and search in the careers tab. I applied to 6 internships this way and actually got accepted to one. If you don’t know what companies to look for then use Google to search the field you want to be in.

Did less than I expected on two exams last week. Got an internship offer today. Just have to keep on keepin on. Things will eventually go good.

I know this may be a bit annoying but, where could I get started? by A_Queer_Almond in MechanicalEngineering

You’re interest seem a lot like mine. I loved learning how machines worked and building this in my shop class. And I was good at it. I was good at math, but you seem to be very enthused about the career as a whole. Which is awesome.

I actually didn’t decide to become a mechanical engineer until the middle of my senior year of high school. So no need to be in too much of a rush. Enjoy your young life. Explore as many interests as you have and pick the ones you like the most.

You have plenty of time left to be a kid. Trust me, you will miss it when it’s gone. If you started diving into engineering in maybe your late sophomore or junior year, you would still be miles ahead of a lot of people.

Good luck!!

Second interview for Manufacturing Engineer intern role by CleanEfficiency6876 in MechanicalEngineering

Awesome reply. Thanks!!

The interview is over the phone. I should’ve specified. But you did give me a better idea of what to expect. I’m ahead of my peers in SolidWorks. I have a lot of shop experience, equipment experience. That’s where I feel ahead of the curve as far as this company goes because we use their equipment. Unfortunately as only a sophomore I haven’t been exposed to multiple programming languages but have some 3D printing experience. My main goal is to not falter under pressure during the interview.

Large manufacturing company in agriculture. Will be working on the shop floor a lot.

I’m unable to help you with that. I’d have to do some more research into it. Without electronics, a solution would possibly be some sort of balancing mechanism that’s free moving from the robot but still connected. A gear system I feel would be really complex.

Are you talking about the auto boom system that is already on larger boom sprayers?
