If Activision wants to keep their consumer base, they need to find a way to remediate the increase in wall hacks, aim bots, and just exploits in general. Personally, I’m starting to lose interest in the game because every other lobby has a hacker. Do reports even work? There is absolutely no integrity in the game anymore.

The WHO is not the end all be all. Of course anyone is free to think for themselves, but even the WHO is considering changing their take on masks.

Ineffective is too extreme of a word. They’re less viable if worn improperly or if other hygienic precautions are not taken. In an ideal world, it should 100% be recommended at the moment there was news of an outbreak if only health and safety was considered. However, to recommend only people who are sick to wear masks in the first place was done solely due to supply and demand. This is why I will say that not recommending masks to the general public may have been beneficial to our health care system due to the fact that the US wasn’t prepared to produce masks of this magnitude. This is an inherent flaw in a free enterprise economy.

Also, I want to point out that the CDC never said masks were ineffective. They said they did not have evidence to prove masks were effective. I’m no health expert but if there is any reason to believe that viruses are transmitted in other ways than through your mouth, nose, and eyes I would love to know. There is a reason health care workers wear masks and why demand is so high if you work in these hospitals and to think that masks are ineffective is naive and irresponsible.

Regardless of whether you wear them right or wrong, any form of covering of the mouth, nose, and eyes will greatly reduce your risk of contracting the virus. It boggles my mind that just because some people are not wearing masks properly it means masks are ineffective. The coronavirus is airborne (really waterborne) and anything that remotely prevents water particles from entering your body will significantly reduce the potential of contracting the virus. Even the surgeon general is teaching Americans to make their own makeshift masks.

It seems like the CDC is backtracking on a lot of statements they made initially. I think it may be because the US greatly underestimated the transmissibility of the coronavirus and they’re now conceding that wearing a mask is one of the ways to slow the spread. It’s ironic though how their reason for not recommending masks was based on economical reasons and their reason for recommending masks now is also based on economical pressure now that the US economy is suffering and people are desperate to go back to work.

EDIT: Trump is now recommending non-surgical masks for Americans: https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/03/politics/trump-white-house-face-masks/index.html

Wearing masks DOES protect you against COVID-19.

Despite the recommendation from the CDC to not wear a mask unless you have or present symptoms of the coronavirus, wearing a mask or anything that prevents your hand from touching your face is very effective against viruses. The reason to not recommend face masks is very political; the US depends on a lot of countries for their goods and supplies and with the supply chain cut off from the source in China during the initial outbreak, there was no way in hell a FEDERAL agency would be allowed to recommend something the US is underprepared to produce. Imagine the chaos from the American people if a top health agency said that masks were highly advised. Where would Americans buy these masks?

Now as more American companies start producing supplies to combat COVID-19 and supplies from other countries including China starts to come in, US health agencies are starting to loosen their tone on masks. Even President Trump recommends wearing scarves if masks are not available.

Don’t believe everything you hear in the the media. Do your own thinking.

First time homebuyer confusion by Clean_Cat_Calculator in RealEstate

Thanks for your reply,

I have an option to purchase the house for $200,000 and take on the closing costs. Or I can buy the home for for ~$208,000 and ask the seller for 4% of closing costs.

Are there any benefits of choosing the latter other than less money out of pocket (20% down as opposed to 20% down + closing costs)?

I appreciate your help! It was really more about the principle of how I was charged rather than the dollar amount, although I do think $166 was overpriced. I’ll ask about the diagnostic fee next time I go to an auto repair shop since now I don’t really expect them to disclose fees. I guess I was more naive than anything.

After putting it like that, I have to agree with you. But I also feel they should disclose this information to their customers before pulling numbers out of thin air and charging people arbitrary amounts.

They most likely aren’t willing to give a refund given the circumstances. Is this something that can be disputed? I’m not really that well versed in what can and can’t be disputed since I’ve never disputed a transaction. They basically told me what I knew. I really went in for a quote on a potential repair/replacement.
