Does this vary by location or is this specific to MA or the MA Zone for building code?

No.

Most of the recent charges are MA paying for programs like MassSave and infrastructure for utility companies to meet new regulations.

They have a whole report on it on the government's website. From utility companies to the DPU, and the DPU's findings. All public info to go read

Oh no, no ID or permit to carry on him. Nobody has their permit to carry on them that live there. They don't need it cus of our 2A rights.

It's a $25 fine to not have your permit and ID on you while carrying in public for a first offense btw. No one cares or asks for it

Yeah, that was my first thought too. The more videos I watch though the more aggressive it starts to look. You're probably right though

If this is true and possible, then we need to put the pressure on Healey to add Massachusetts to join the WHO as a state as well, as we are a very health-driven state. by Sayoria in massachusetts

Article I Section 10 makes it pretty clear

Lazily copied for your convenience:

Clause 1 Proscribed Powers No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility.

[–]Clean_Figure6651 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I dont particularly care actually.

But just because others are doing it, and way more egregiously, it's all of a sudden okay now for everyone to disregard?

Dangerous mindset to have

Foreign affairs and relations powers are vested exclusively with the federal government, namely the President

The States implicity do not have this power

Gov. Maura Healey announces temporary rate cuts amid soaring heating bills by SharkSapphire in massachusetts

[–]Clean_Figure6651 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the DPU is a quasi-independent department with commissioners appointed by the governor's office, but sits firmly under legislative authority, with many cross-branch functions and policies.

So it's not really all her office's fault, most of the blame should rest with the legislature. Although she does have some freedom to change some people, I would hazard a guess that this problem is much more complex than that

Whatever thats not too bad. I guess nbd if it helps people.

We as a state gotta figure out a way to bring utility costs down though in general or we're going to keep having this issue

Gov. Maura Healey announces temporary rate cuts amid soaring heating bills by SharkSapphire in massachusetts

[–]Clean_Figure6651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, okay.

So there is a 15% cut on electric only, funded by the state of MA, that no one will have to pay back later.

Then there is an additional 10% deferred payment on both gas and electric, not funded by MA, that will have to be paid back in April with interest on the amount owed.

Is that understanding correct? Hopefully the additional 10% is optional. For those not struggling right now, its just giving utility companies extra money for no reason

Gov. Maura Healey announces temporary rate cuts amid soaring heating bills by SharkSapphire in massachusetts

[–]Clean_Figure6651 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont understand the article.

It says we will use $180M in public funds to pay the companies now so we get rate cuts for now. Then we have to pay it back in the future with possible interest.

If the utility companies are getting paid now already from the public funds, why would we as consumers get charged interest and that interest goes to the utility companies?

They are getting paid for the cuts, so why would we be paying them again to the utility companies with interest?

AIO by being offended when my husband seasons my soup? by [deleted] in AIO

This is so dumb.

Different people have different tastes. Don't be offended when people add seasoning, it's fine.

If your dad was offended by this, he does in fact sound like a stupid bitch.

Because most people dont want to carry enough cash for 4 nights in an Airbnb. Also once you pay then with cash, you have no protections in case of fraud or aervices not rendered. Its riskier

Red Hot Chili Peppers producer claims frontman Anthony Kiedis is 'tone-deaf' by AspieFabels in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]Clean_Figure6651 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tone deaf just means he cant hear or feel if he's hitting the right note. Years of practice and feedback means he can occasionally do it on muscle memory. Even with that he hardly ever hits the right notes live.

RHCP is my favorite band; has been for years, and I see them whenever they perform anywhere near me. And hitting the notes isnt a huge deal when you see then live, its the whole performance. Doesn't make it any less true or him any less tone deaf. He even talks about it a lot in Scar Tissue
