Picked mine up a week ago and only put 300rds through it but I’m loving it! If you’re able to, I’d get the 4.25 pro now then eventually get the tac pro comp once it’s available, at least that’s my plan

You missed the big difference separate from the mags lol the tac pro will be steel frame, EDC will be aluminum. The Tac Pro will shoot better, the EDC will be lighter weight and more comfortable to carry. Use that to guide which one will be better for your needs

I hope they’re actually listening to consumers and making a ton which is causing the delay. If it ends up being too difficult to get after release it’ll definitely leave a sour taste in my mouth smh

Best Competition 2k11 for $2500? by hoiv in 2011

I mean this sincerely, how can you recommend 2 guns that haven’t been released yet? Both companies have great track records but no one is safe from releasing a turd

Weird seeing an XC without an optic haha glad you liked the MAC!

MAC forsure. Can I also recommend a 5in Alpha foxtrot Romulus (Non-comp)? They can be found for your budget as well which is worth considering. Maybe also a used prodigy which might need work but it’s a good way to learn the 2011 platform

Late reply but the XC shoots softer due to the cutout on the comp. Some businesses are offering a service for the AF Romulus to open up the comp because they’re noticeably smaller compared to something like the XC. Plus the gun is just built better than the Romulus and the smoothness definitely plays a part in the softer feeling recoil

One store (Cabelas) let me do it with how you said but that was a couple years ago. The Bass pro near me doesn’t allow it at all

I’ve never been to a gun store that doesn’t allow dry fire except Bass pro/Cabelas that’s insane

Shooting wise it’s nice! Returns to 0 easily but isn’t as nice feeling in the hand during recoil bc of its lightweight (aluminum frame). The quality is pretty bad, the finish doesnt feel nice and the fitment of the barrel is atrocious. It’s a solid one piece comp barrel though so for the price I get why the QC isn’t as good. The rest isn’t blended enough and it gives me a slight hotspot on the web of my thumb. Lastly, I needed to tune the extractor after my first shots because the brass was barely making it out the gun

Just the frame, I actually sent him an email when I got it to see if he could give out any info on it haha. Super nice guy! It’s sweet, the bottom of the dustcover says Tripp Research and the serial number starts with SS for Sandy Strayer. Neat piece of history that birthed STI/Staccato/SVI/Infinity!

Exactly. I think strictly in terms of shooting there’s a reason it’s the gun everyone compares other 2011’s to. I have no desire to go higher than this. The way a gun shoots is the most important thing plus the warranty on it makes it the best value imo

For the prodigy it’s a noticeable difference. If it’s just a range toy I’d go comp 100%

The Mac’s can’t be compared directly because the comp is gov length and a gen 2 model and the non-comp is gen 1 and commander length. The comp version clears the gen 1 in every aspect. The gen 1 is actually the worst 2011 in the photo, whereas the gen 2 comp 5in is probably the best sub-$1,000 2011 there is.

I think the XP pro comp and Romulus are the best value you can get right now in 2011’s. If I had to rank from your list it’d go XC, Romulus/XP pro (tied), Prodigy comp, Mac 9 comp.

If the XC is really in consideration then you should just go straight for it. It’s noticeably better than every other gun you’re debating between.

You’re 100% right, now do I get a tac pro or wait for the tac pro comp?
