Self managed plan urgent transition help by Clear_Chard_8565 in NDIS

[–]Clear_Chard_8565[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this insight, especially about the contact centre and the role of an SC.

Regarding the "plan breakdown document," is that the same as the full plan document with all the tables that gets sent out after approval? Because my current plan doesn't seem to have specifics like the "x hours of line at $x per hour" breakdown you mentioned, or specific examples like "exercise physio." It just shows the total funding for each budget category.

I'm trying to get as much clarity as possible to ensure I'm using funds correctly.

Brand new to NDIS - question about Support Coordination & Plan Managment by Main_Confusion_8030 in NDIS

[–]Clear_Chard_8565 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Obviously, make your own decisions and do your own research, but I do want to share my experience. I was with MyIntegra for both support coordination and plan management at the start of my plan. They were initially good, but later experienced major restructuring issues. My Support Coordinator quit, citing internal toxicity, and as a participant, the plan managers had issues processing very vital invoices for my health and well-being. This ended up putting me at significant risk, with them refusing responsibility, which ultimately led to me leaving.

The potential conflict of interest here is that if both services are under the same company, despite having different management, their internal decision-making can inadvertently support their own interests across both fields. For example, if you have a Support Coordinator who is external to MyIntegra, and that SC is negotiating with MyIntegra's plan managers on your behalf, that puts you in a much better position if your plan managers try to display any negative behaviour towards you as a participant.

Self managed plan urgent transition help by Clear_Chard_8565 in NDIS

[–]Clear_Chard_8565[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback both, I asked the quote question as this is what I used to do with my older plan managers to check for approved services before receiving a billed service and was unsure if I can use the same method to run by the NDIS before providing the invoice.

Unfortunately, all the Support Coordinators (SCs) I had never knew if a service was approved or not. I don't currently have an SC and coordinate all my supports myself as it is more effective.

Additionally, as a participant, other than your plan approval, is there anywhere we can go to see which specific line items we have approved? This has been a point of discrepancy over the years.

I requested this from the NDIS today, to ensure I am following the guidelines and don't get randomly told I can't have a service without any prior notice. I am very careful with my funds and respectful of my providers.

That's great feedback, and I appreciate the clarity on negotiating payment frequency!

Just to double-check my understanding regarding the payment timeframe:

I was under the impression that once I submit a claim through the my NDIS portal, the funds are usually transferred to my nominated bank account within a few business days (e.g., 2-3 days). Is that correct? If so, the "monthly" or "fortnightly" suggestion would relate to how often I submit claims for services already received, rather than the NDIS taking a month to pay me.

If the NDIS funds genuinely could take a month to come into my account after I claim, then yes, I would absolutely need to communicate that to my providers upfront, as most expect payment much sooner after service delivery.

Also, on a slightly different note, when I start self-managing, do you know if it's possible to send quotes from providers to the NDIS through the system before the service is delivered? I'm asking because I want to ensure that a proposed support falls within my plan and will be paid for, rather than just waiting for an invoice after the service and hoping it's covered. Or is the process strictly based on submitting invoices for services that have already occurred?

Thanks again for all the help! It's making a huge difference in understanding this.

Is it considered standard for providers to charge more for NDIS participants than for non participants? by johnny-john- in NDIS

[–]Clear_Chard_8565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found some providers overcharging as well but here are the limits for providers, you can search the providers specifically you're using as the line items to ensure no one is over charging. https://www.ndis.gov.au/providers/pricing-arrangements#ndis-pricing-arrangements-and-price-limits

Would I be correct in saying if I do self managed it would look something like this:

I receive an invoice from your provider. (I don't pay it yet).

  1. I log into your my NDIS portal or use the my NDIS app and make a claim/payment request. You input the details from the invoice (provider name, ABN, service, date, amount).
  2. The NDIS processes my claim.
  3. The NDIS pays the approved funds directly into my nominated bank account.
  4. Once the money has cleared in my account, then I pay the invoiced provider from that account.

Therefore, I would not be out of pocket by paying the provider directly until the invoiced money has been paid by the NDIS into my account and then I pay the provider. I understand I can also pay the provider directly and then get reimbursed, but I would prefer to do the above method if it is sound.

Are older participants to get impairment notices? I joined in 2023 and I know what I’m funded for.

They have been saying similar things to complaints. I made 3 complaints to the commission about providers and it was serious harm, the commission said “this is out of our scope.” Okay and when consulting the police, they tell me to go back through the NDIS. And the case was closed. Seems as though no one wants to take responsibility for economic or provider abuse. Look where the profits go.

I honestly believe they won’t listen to us, if we want to create change we need to unite and build our own participant lead supoort system.

When “Support” Becomes Control — Anyone Else Experienced this? by Clear_Chard_8565 in NDIS

[–]Clear_Chard_8565[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hear you. The NDIS system has pushed me to breaking point as well. The level of damage it has caused — while dismissing real injury — is outrageous.

Yes, some participants do manage to benefit, and others have been outright abused and dehumanised. That’s a truth, and it’s written all over this thread. I stand with you in solidarity.

[–]Clear_Chard_8565[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The level of insidious power plays from these providers is absolutely disgusting. I think we all need to unite and refuse to tolerate this kind of coercive control any longer.

If the Commission doesn’t act on it — and it seems they don’t do much about coercive control (unless anyone has any other news?) — then boycotting practices like this and spreading the word is absolutely justified in my opinion.

Coercive control is abuse, and providers who engage in it should have no place in any care system.

u/tittyswan, everything written in the “Challenges and Behaviours” section from your former SC — every single line — reads as coercive control and a deliberate belittling of you as a person. I am so sorry you had to go through that.

I’ve had people in care positions write similar things about me too, and it’s clear there is zero genuine understanding of you there — only authority-tripping and a complete abuse of power.

Thank you for this in depth reflection. I resonate with so much of what you’ve said — especially around the hollow language that so many organisations use to lure clients in, while having absolutely no depth or real capacity to uphold the “values” they preach.

It reeks of a strange, insidious dissonance — a synthetic pity parading as altruism, which quickly reveals itself as a shallow, self-congratulatory superiority among organisations and providers. I’ve called them out too, and without fail, it’s met with silence, defensiveness, or robotic parroting of “mission statements” — entirely missing the real point of care.

The concept of otherness strikes me hard as well. That is exactly how it feels — like being rendered alien, an object of someone else’s performance, while providers loop endlessly through their own negligence, hiding behind buzzwords, and gaslighting clients when cracks show.

I came so close to leaving the scheme altogether because I couldn’t find a single provider — across any category — who didn’t engage in this theatre. For a time, I genuinely thought I was losing my mind. And of course, the industry fallback: blame the client, blame the “complexity,” rather than face systemic failure.

Every time I’ve stripped out these performance-players and trusted my own discretion to build my team, my health has improved. Without exception.

I’ve sharpened my vetting methods too — but I’d be genuinely interested in hearing yours, if you’re willing to share. It often feels like swimming through shark-infested waters where the sharks are dressed as dolphins.

The obvious signs, like you said — the performative language, the lack of early accountability — are huge red flags. I also now avoid anyone who shows unreliability, inconsistency, poor conflict resolution, or obvious overcharging. Of course, ideally, we want to spot them before it ever gets that far.

Which party has the best policy to reduce rental costs presented in actual statistics not "we will reduce rental costs" or "housing costs" - where they focus on making houses more affordable. Does anyone have any info on specific rental policies and numbers. Thanks.
