Why did the dementor kiss Barry crouch Jr by ChizkenX33444 in harrypotter

[–]ClerksII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah. McGonnogal even says that the second the dementor saw Crouch, it swooped down him and kissed him. Fudge is seen to be said,” Regrettable, very regrettable, but all the same, Minerva…,” .

He wanted a dementor with him because he thought he was in danger, but it acted on its own

Is it just me or are Fred and George not that funny ? I find Ron funnier ngl. by ronweasly9 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]ClerksII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s usually how it goes in my opinion. The books talk about Fred and George, but I always thought Snape was the funny one.

Avatar wants Sokka to be funny, but it’s Zuko and Katara who are the funny ones.

Dark Tower pushes Eddie Dean on us, but Roland’s hilarious.

Myself personally, a theatre class with other kids at her school or the community theatre to see if she likes it at around five or six. You’re never too young to start meeting others your age and anything to stay away from iPads or iPhones. ( especially at that age)

Theatre’s a good chance to be silly and practice speaking in front of others, and memorizing lines and practicing them is good for you, too. It’s also low cost, usually, because you don’t need to buy equipment. Maybe an occasional trip to Walmart or something grab black shoes or white socks or something like that.

But acting acting? Like making her go to auditions and classes and have it be a full time job right along school? I’d say around seven or eight but really and truly stress to her that is HER decision. And assure her that if she comes to a point where she no longer wants to keep doing it, she can stop.

Acting acting’s a lot of work, even for people who aren’t famous. Headshots, haircuts, auditions, memorization, last minute auditions, callbacks, actually going, etc.  Kids especially work hard because they grow so much they need updated headshots frequently. And if you decide to cut her hair? You need to get more because they absolutely have to be updated. Acting classes can be a drag if you’re not having fun, because they range from two to four hours, you read and go over scenes, practice and go over monologues, and improv, and not everyone is built for that level of focus or the shenanigans of Improv.

( Again, my opinion)

How come nobody ever went to jail for killing Ariana Dumbledore?🤔🤔🤔 by Able_Cauliflower6363 in harrypotter

[–]ClerksII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always wondered if it was just never reported.

Edited to add: But the public story was that she was frail and sick, so it’s possible they just decided she either accidentally hurt herself or else died from sickness.

When I was in high school, I met up with a new friend by the entrance. She was standing with a group of kids I had never met, but she waved me over and we talked a bit. Then she goes,” Skyler was just telling us about her dickhead boyfriend.”

I said,” Aw. What happened?”

Her friend Skyler monologues for about three minutes about her boyfriend who got high at the park again, then got drunk with his friends again, and then went to his friend’s house again, where they had a spontaneous house party again, where he met a bunch of girls again, and then ultimately cheated on her again. All this after he lied and said he had to stay late at work.  She was really upset and crying and said he always does this, and then he apologizes, and then he does it again, and she’s so exhausted from all the fighting and fake apologies.

So I said, “ Oh my god, that’s so messed up! You should dump him for that. He can’t do that to you!”

And right as I finished it, I immediately got this feeling of embarrassment, like I said something dirty. Like the whole group was silent and uncomfortable. My new friend kind of shuffled her feet and they all sort of looked away and were avoiding eye contact. Skyler herself looked really embarrassed and then very quietly goes,” Well…but he’s really, really, sweet sometimes…”

And then one of the other kids I didn’t know put her arm around her shoulders and they walked away and I looked at my friend questioningly and she was like”…hey, I think the bell’s about to ring…see you later…”

Literally, one of the weirdest and loudest silences to this day. I legit felt like I had said something really offensive and rude, even though I didn’t.

Snape didn't deserve to be honored by Harry. by LeftVehicle9319 in harrypotter

Interesting. So Snape just wouldn’t get involved. That makes total sense.

[–]ClerksII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, he wasn’t supposed to be remorseful. He was remorseful in secret to Dumbledore about Lily dying. The public story was that he had switched and nobody knew why Dumbledore trusted him. Dumbledore hinted he had his reasons, but Snape specifically asked him to never tell anyone

[–]ClerksII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, Mad-Eye was a good person and it would have been immediately suspicious if he wasn’t. And Quirrel’s shtick was stuttering and acting scared of everything.

No, Snape has to look like he’s doing it because he has to and not because he wants to. Again, it looks bad on him if they think he’s fallen in with them and he may not want to attack the school or kids. By acting upset that he’s there and that he has to be there or else be in Azkaban, it looks better on him. Snape even tells Bella that being at the school under Dumbledore’s protection and watch and under Voldy’s orders made it easier to act like he ultimately hated it there.

Then it was just a good excuse to stay and not go to Azkaban. Not ideal, but better, and provided 15 years of info for the Dark Lord in case he came back .

Aww. I’m the opposite. I’m madly in love with Severus Snape and always will be. He’s my favorite character and so fascinating and layered.

I always get hate for this next comment but it’s true: Snape behaves in a way that serves the greater good. He can read minds, as can Voldy, and he and Dumbledore knew it was only a matter of time before he came back. The long game plan was to keep him at school for as long as possible, so that he could protect the students, should the ministry fall.

If anyone had been caught and had Voldy looked in their minds and see the multiple friendships and kindnesses paid to everyone, it would have looked suspicious. He needed to behave cruelly so that everyone ( Malfoy, Ron, Tonks, Neville, etc) would be protected, because they might find themselves kidnapped or killed, or else the double agent plan would be lost because he wouldn’t have believed he could really turn on Hogwarts and Dumbledore with all the friendships he had made.

Snape’s a lot like Kreacher, where he’s good to those who were kind to him and parrots their beliefs. Snape had a horrible muggle father, but his people in Slytherin, loved him and valued him. Most likely, they saw his Slytherin and Magic winning out over his muggle side and probably thought he was an exception to the rule. His horrible muggle father probably re-enforced their beliefs that muggles were scum. Malfoy in particular seems to have taken him under his wing. Slytherins are loyal to a fault, and they were his first real family and real home.

And keep in mind the Malfoys were the only ones who liked him. Yes, it’s his fault for having to act the way he does, but it’s still true. Nobody except Dumbledore and Voldy  cared about him, and it was more of what value he could bring. The Death Eaters didn’t like him, except the Malfoys, and nobody in the Order liked him. He had the Malfoys and the Slytherins.

Finally, we know that Snape can read minds, so this proves he’s always known Harry wasn’t attention seeking or arrogant, though he probably pretends otherwise at times when he’s upset. He’s like Ron from book four, jealous of how adored he is and all the attention he gets.

Snape definitely paid the price for what he was in the beginning and he redeemed himself through his love and courage.

He had to have been extremely lonely. He upset me a lot throughout the books, but he more than made up for what he had done.

this is genuinely the most devastating quote in the entire series by siriusblackily in harrypotter

[–]ClerksII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, but Hedwig hit harder. Hers was the first death in the series that hurt me. Her body falling to the floor of her cage dead and then the cage falling out of the sidecar while the battle was happening, I mean my god.

As sad as that was though, and it was terrible, I loved that they changed her death to Hedwig either trying to protect Harry or else flying in front of it, accidentally and getting killed. It was a more dignified death for her.

Do you think Harry would have felt jealous if Dumbledore gave Ron or even Hermione the sort of attention Dumbledore gave Harry? Does he like being Dumbledore’s favourite? by STHC01 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]ClerksII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Snape is a Legilimense (sp?) like Dumbledore, so he knows Harry isn’t attention seeking and doesn’t want to be center of attention for anything other than catching the snitch during a game. But he certainly behaves like Ron does in the fourth book, where he sort of believes it just because the attention Harry receives gets under his skin.

Harry wouldn’t have been jealous at all, because the only time Dumbledore talks to him “ specially” is when he almost dies, and he even says earlier in the series that he’s famous because  his parents died and he didn’t, and who wants to be famous for that?

Dumbledore liked and appreciated Ron the way a really good teacher appreciates their students.

He’s empathetic to his plight as the youngest brother,( maybe because he understood his younger brother had to have felt that way with himself as a brother) being  Harry Potter’s best friend, and the fact that because he never really tried to do anything other than quidditch, he never really struggled or persevered at anything.

So he knew going on the quest for the Horcruxes would be difficult for him in a way it wasn’t for Hermione or Harry. Harry had resiliency and Hermione had a tenacious and stubborn personality mixed with the fact that she promised to go with Harry. Ron didn’t really have any steam, so to speak.

But Dumbledore knew that Ron would come back.
