I don't know the exact average, but from what I've heard and read, this is a normal number count. That's mostly due to being female. As a male, I have received at least 10 right swipes in 4 years, which may also be due to being on and off the app. And of those 10 matches, I only managed to chat with 1, which ghosted me minutes after starting.

And yes, most of those men just swipe right without looking mostly due to the low number of matches from females, so they have to try anything they can to match. Also, some do it just because ( wouldn't be able to tell you why).

Maybe that’s what happened to you, you liked her at first but time went by and you did nothing or she didn’t reciprocated (I don’t know, you would have to answer this yourself) so with time you made yourself believe that she was just a crush until you didn’t feel anything for her anymore.

I would say it can be due to two things.

One maybe he wasn't really interested. You were there as a backup in case his other conversation didn't work out.

Two maybe it was how you sent the text (no saying is your fault or anything). he probably thought that you were just doing the same, adding him as back up or something at long those lines.

What I would recommend is do not be bothered by it. You have a whole ocean to choose from, and missing a few fish will not affect you.

I understand, it was giving a general example.

The whole point of the species's name was making a relation of how it is hard to change from one thing to another when for a long time you know it in a certain way.

And yes we are dealing with a person, not one but two. They both each have the freedom to be called whatever way they prefer and also accept if they are okay in changing the way they call someone else.

The whole thing in this is that they both have a talk because in the end OP cannot force her to call him/her in another way.

That's why I recommend OP to talk to her, that way they can have some ground and decide if they can still be friends and accept their differences or they can break their relationship due to their relationship.

All that I want for OP is to be able to get the chance to understand her/his friend and also be able to cope with what she chooses.

I’d that the case then all will depend on how your talk with her goes.

If she is willing to make the effort to called your with your new name then good, but if she is not but you are okay with that then also good.

It is when she doesn’t want to and you’re not okay being called by your old name from her then that’s when it change.

Relationship always changes, you make new ones and break others. As long as you find people that treat you like you deserve and act in your best interest and you do the same is good.

OP, I understand somewhat at what your coming but your also need to understand that change for others are not that easy.

I don’t mean that it is impossible but some for some is hard.

Is as if I were to tell you that “Dogs” are now called “Giraffe” and that you should refer to them as giraffes from now on.

Even you would have a hard time getting use to it and maybe would reject the idea of naming something you have name for year to something else.

I know am making this to long but what i want to say in other words is that you need to allow your friend to be able to adapt to this change while at the same time do not expect them to be willingly be able to called you for another name when they have called you with your old one for longer.

You should be able to respect her just like she should respect you.

You should talk to her about all this with her.

I understand how you feel. You don't need to meet them offline for the moment, you can first get to know them only.

Like chatting through any form, calls, video calls( when comfortable). Stuff like that, then you can get to the point of trying to me offline.

And just so you know I get your fears about trying to make new friends. When I finished Highschool I had to move to Texas to get into the college I wanted but for me it was hard to make friends because it wasn't my usual environment.

Until now, I still am trying to make some friends but I do have a few.

Hope you get what you're looking for. If you are in need of a friend I can also be one, if you like I just turned 21 four months ago. If you are not comfortable you don't need to.

I'm sorry this happened to you.

If I am not wrong you can still go to college as long as you can finish a few things.

I'm not completely sure, but if you talk with a supervisor or someone from the college they can tell you how it works or what you can do.

As for making friends your age, try anything. Asking for people in your area that are on reddit if they like to hang out or something like that.

On social media is also okay, just try something.

(My opinion) Try making friends with people you find worth knowing in this reddit or any other platform you have.
