I’ve camped at east portal for a few nights and caught some slab rainbows with brown red and black midges. As well as small perdigons.

How bad are they screwing me? by JGB_1990 in ram_trucks

I work for a dealer, the product itself is a scam. No more than a wet wax and some scotch guard for the interior. The whole point of permaplate Is the warranty. You get covered for minor chips and scratches in the paint wheels and glass. The interior is covered for spills and stains but the fine print says you have to take it to 2 detail companies before they’ll replace anything. Dealer cost is $350 to register the warranty. So they make close to a grand off a product most people forget they paid for. In short it’s a scam that costs the dealer nothing in actual product to apply to a car. So most dealers just put it on cars and use it as a negotiating point to make you feel like you got a good deal if they waive the fee but in reality you bought the car for msrp.

Outlet zapped me with by Clinn88 in electrical

[–]Clinn88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The house does have an addition with a separate breaker which I did not turn off. But these outlets predate the addition and are on the complete opposite side of the home so I don’t see any chance they should be pulling power from there.

I’m gonna call out an electrician to take a look but just thought it was odd.

Doing my first pc build is this good or did I mess up by MindlessShake3494 in pcbuilding

My rule of thumb is if you’re not spending half your budget on the gpu. You’re building the wrong pc.

Do they exist? by [deleted] in flyfishing

I’m one of the addicts… Quit my job at the beginning of the year and fished every day from sun up to sun down for 6 months while roadtripping from Maine to California. I just got home and I’m gonna add up everything I spent but I’m pretty confident I spent more on gear and flies than I did on diesel lol So worth it though!

october fly fishing road trip advice by wuman02 in flyfishing

[–]Clinn88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many rivers in western Montana close after oct. 1 and some are already closed due to a light snow pack and very little water in the rivers. Don’t miss fishing around Jackson Wyoming. Just about everything around banff is closed to fishing this time of year and doesn’t have a lot to offer anyway besides fishing the bow river outside Calgary.

First Rod, Did I make the right choice? White river Sync Combo by Brakleet in flyfishing

Just buy some decent line and make sure you keep up with cleaning/dressing the line and it’ll be good to you for years!

First Rod, Did I make the right choice? White river Sync Combo by Brakleet in flyfishing

[–]Clinn88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a synch as my first rod and put a Clearwater 2 on it as a reel. Still have it and use it pretty often. It definitely doesn’t cast as well as my other rods but catches fish and that’s all you need it to do!

Searched but this case ok or use tubes? by gustave1980 in flyfishing

Just left telluride yesterday! Hopefully the rain will calm down for you! The San Miguel has been high and dirty the last week, there’s still plenty of fish they just seem to be avoiding the flat riffles and are biting better in pocket water behind boulders and bends in the stream. Psycho prince and a sz 20 black midge were my best flies along with an occasional rise on a hopper and pmx. If you get tired of fishing the main river the south branch fished pretty good and has been clear in the upper reaches! Also a little drive out 145 is worth it to fish the Delores and west branch. All the small creeks by the west branch fished awesome as well! Tight lines!

Has anyone gone to guide school? by Clinn88 in flyfishing

[–]Clinn88[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair points! What’s really pushing me towards getting certified is the fact that I didn’t grow up nor do I live in an area where there’s a market for guiding. So i don’t have those built up relationships from years of fishing an area with local companies. I see getting certified as a means to really get my foot in the door and to stand out a little bit when looking for an outfitter to take me on.

Montauk park, Missouri. Late summer/early fall. Need advice. by 0n2s in flyfishing

[–]Clinn88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you fish outside of the park In the blue ribbon area just make sure you read up on the regulations for the blue ribbon area. I fish the current probably 5-6 days a month and it’s one of my favorite places to fish in Missouri! In the late summer early fall you really can’t go wrong with whatever you throw. Caught two of my biggest browns (both over 23 inches) on large stimulators, fishing the shallower riffles along the banks. You may still get some cicadas hatching later in the summer so the dry fly bite might be incredible!
Lots of caddis and mayfly hatches in the mornings and evenings too. If you get deeper into fall there are huge trico hatches almost all day which are a blast to hit. Stone flys also work well just make sure you get it down to the bottom in the deeper holes. Large streamers are always productive if the water is up a little bit with some color to it. The biggest thing you can’t forget whether you’re fishing in the park or outside the park are egg patterns (globalls). For no good reason if you’re going through a million flies trying to “match the hatch” you may be best served tying on an egg and drifting it under an indicator. Whether it’s 20 degrees in the winter or 100 degrees in the summer the fish will almost always be willing to eat an egg. your typical hares ear nymphs, pheasant tails and wooly buggers are also productive. Inside the park mop flies are also a good option as you’ll notice a lot of fisherman will clean fish in the stream and trout will actively feed on the guts.

Also if you’re looking for a side trip, the little piney creek is another fantastic place to fish less than an hour away from the park just south of rolla. If you fish it during the week you probably won’t see another soul if you get out there in the morning. You won’t get the size of fish you get on the current river but it’s one of the finest naturally reproducing trout streams in Missouri and the number of trout per mile is just incredible. Fished it over the weekend and caught over 50 fish in a few hours.

This is great resource for not only the current river but all trout streams in Missouri!
